David just filed a request regarding Shannon’s drinking and used a comment she made during the recent RHOC reunion against her in his court documents.
“The mother had publicly stated on television within the last month, she ‘self-medicates’ with alcohol. That behavior is detrimental to the children,” he explained, according to a December 18 report from The Blast.
While the report doesn’t state the date David made his recent court filings, Reality Blurb can report he filed these documents on December 14 amid their ongoing divorce.
“I requested Mrs. Beador agree to not drinking or being drunk in front of the children and the request was denied and in fact disputed that she even stated she ‘self-medicates’ even though the television clip of her stating it is currently on the Bravo (NBCU) website and was included and quoted on several media articles,” David continued.
David is requesting an order be put into place that will ban Shannon from drinking eight hours before and throughout the time she spends with their three kids, including 17-year-old Sophie and 14-year-old twins Stella and Adeline.
A hearing has been set for next month and Shannon has not yet responded.
Shannon and David separated in October of last year and two months later, the reality star filed documents to end her marriage after 17 years. In her court documents, Shannon sought primary physical custody and, joint legal custody of their children with David having only visitation rights to the kids.
In the months since her filing, Shannon has been granted a sum of $22,500 a month in temporary support, which she will continue to receive from David until they agree on a permanent order.
During the season 13 reunion of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Shannon opened up about her troubled marriage and admitted to using alcohol to cope with her struggles.
“In my marriage, I heard that I was selfish, that I was an alcoholic from day one — even though I went through, like, five years without even a drink — and that I was crazy. And those are the three things that I was hearing from you,” she said, according to PEOPLE. “I’m not trying to make excuses. That is something that continually was a theme for 17 years, from day one, and maybe even before.”
While Tamra Judge was on the outs with Shannon during the season, the women made amends at the reunion after Tamra and her co-stars apologized for suggesting Shannon was an alcoholic.
“I don’t think she has a problem with alcohol,” Tamra said. “I think she self-medicated herself many times and it’s a depressant.”
“Oh we all do,” Shannon replied. “And I admit it.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County will return to Bravo TV next year for season 14.
