Earlier this month, Teresa, 46, appeared on Kim Zolciak’s podcast – House of Kim, and she was very open about her life as she once again admitted she doesn’t enjoy doing the RHONJ and revealed what it would take for her to quit the Bravo series. She also spoke of her family feud – revealing what initially caused it, as well as why she hates being in the public eye.
First, Teresa was asked how she was dealing with all of her family problems, which includes the recent hospitalization of her father and a ruling by a judge stating that her husband Joe Giudice must be deported back to Italy upon the completion of his 41-month prison sentence for fraud.
“I’m just grateful for having four beautiful healthy daughters. That’s what I’m thankful for. You can’t dwell on anything negative. You just got to be positive, and I just take it day by day. I’m not going to say what’s going to happen like a year from now cause I don’t know, so I just live in the moment,” shared Teresa.
“I feel like yoga helped me with [all of the problems], like meditating. And I guess everything I’ve been through [as well]. I mean, I’ve been through a lot in the past 2 years,” she added.
Kim then asked Teresa if she enjoyed doing the RHONJ.
“No,” admitted Teresa. “I guess you can’t really ask me that because it’s been not the greatest for me… I don’t find that it’s stressful anymore. It was stressful when my family was [first] on there and that was disgusting because that’s not what my family is about, and that was very stressful for me.”
This then led to the topic of her infamous family feud with her brother, Joe Gorga, and her sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga. As most RHONJ fans are aware, the family is doing much better these days but just years ago, when the Gorgas first joined the series, things were very bad, and Teresa believes “jealousy” was at the root of the issue.
“I would never let it get to where it was before. That was just like a whole jealousy [thing],” explained Teresa. “I was on TV, they thought I was trying to keep them away from the cameras which I was not trying to keep them away from the cameras.”
She continued, “I never thought fame and money would ruin my family and it did for a little while but then I brought it all back together for my parents, and for my children, and it will never go back to what it was. If I have something to say, if [Melissa] has something to say – we both say it to each other and we move past it.”
Teresa also admitted that she does NOT enjoy being famous, stating it makes her a target. In past interviews, she has repeatedly stated her legal troubles are a result of her decision to do reality TV.
“I just hate being in the public eye,” she stated. “You’re made an example of and that’s the part I feel like is not fair. I just wish I was treated like everyone.”
Host of the show, Kim, who famously quit the Real Housewives of Atlanta during season 5 back in 2012 then stated that one of the reasons she was able to walk away so easily was because her husband and co-host, former NFL player Kroy Biermann, had just signed a $10 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons. This led to Teresa admitting that she would also quit the RHONJ in a heartbeat if Joe came into that type of money.
“Believe me, If my husband signed that kind of deal, I wouldn’t be doing Housewives either, trust me,” said Teresa.
When asked if viewers can expect to see her back on the RHONJ next season, Teresa said that was an easy choice for her.
“Yes. I’m not walking away now. I made this show what it is. They got me till the end,” she shared. “And people [ask], why do you do it? Because this is my job. This is how I put food on the table for my four daughters. So it’s like I can’t walk away from it now. This is how I provide for my family.”
A new episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey airs tonight on Bravo at 9/8c.
