Joe Giudice appealed a judge’s order for deportation in November but so far, the decision has not been overturned.
Although an exact date for the Real Housewives of New Jersey star’s deportation has not yet been set, a new report has revealed that he may be kicked out of the United States sooner rather than later.
On January 25, Radar Online revealed Joe, the husband of Teresa Giudice and father of her four daughters could be sent back to Italy in March.
Although the government is currently shut down, an immigration official told the outlet that because Joe is a detainee, his appeal process will likely proceed as normal and a final decision regarding his deportation will be made prior to his scheduled prison release on March 14.
“In most cases, appeal decisions have been delayed and everything is on freeze until the government shutdown is over,” the official explained. “However, in cases of detainees, things are still processing as normal because they are priority.”
As for Joe’s marriage to Teresa, their decades-long relationship is expected to come to an end if his appeal is unsuccessful.
“She is talking about divorce, absolutely,” a source said. “There is no way Teresa is going to uproot her life. He did this, why should she suffer?”
According to a recent report from PEOPLE, Teresa revealed to her RHONJ co-stars that she and Joe will “go our separate ways” if he’s sent back to Italy during filming on the reunion earlier this month.
“Teresa told Andy that if Joe gets deported, she’s not going,” a source at the reunion revealed. “She said that she and Joe had talked about it over the phone, and that he understood.”
“She didn’t really express any sadness about that,” a second source added. “She just focused instead on the girls. It was very matter of fact.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey season nine airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo TV.
