Ashley Darby is pregnant with her first child.
After opening up about a heartbreaking miscarriage during the season three reunion of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Ashley has confirmed she and husband Michael Darby will be welcoming a baby together later this year.
“I’ve always wondered what this would feel like – carrying a being inside of my body – but actually being pregnant is more incredible than I could have imagined,” Ashley said in a statement to The Daily Dish on February 5. “Through all of our past heartbreak, this is the most incredible gift we could ever receive.”
Ashley also shared her pregnancy news on Instagram with a special video of herself and Michael, and her baby bump.

In the video, the couple, who got married in 2014, confirmed their new baby would arrive in July 2019.
As for the sex of the baby, Ashley and Michael haven’t found out quite yet.
“We have the results in Michael’s desk drawer at work, but we might do a sex reveal, that’s still a toss up in the air,” Ashley said during an interview with PEOPLE. “But for now, it’s just really hypothesizing if it’s going to be a boy or a girl based on the heartbeat, the shape of the belly, the condition of my skin — all those things that are supposed to be predictors of the baby’s sex.”
While the new baby will be the first child for Ashley, he or she will be the third for Michael, who shares two adult children with his former wife.
Over the past couple of seasons of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Ashley and Michael have been seen going through ups and downs as they’ve considered plans for a family. And, during the last season of the show, Michael admitted to having concerns about welcoming a child, or children, with his wife.
As viewers will recall, Michael wanted to be sure he and Ashley were financially stable before starting a family and said he preferred if they broke even at Oz, their restaurant in Arlington, Virginia. Then, in a moment that shocked their co-stars during the reunion, Ashley and Michael revealed they had started trying to have a child while filming season three. Sadly, however, they suffered a miscarriage just two weeks after successfully conceiving.
“When I had the tragic miscarriage, Michael was very upset and I think he realized that he wanted to have a baby more than he originally thought,” Ashley wrote in an August 2018 blog. “That was a very special moment for me because now I know that we are really making the right choice to have a family together.”
While Ashley did attend Andy Cohen‘s baby shower at the end of last month in Beverly Hills, California, she hid her baby bump with a strategically placed bow as she posed with her fellow Real Housewives at the event.
