After being labeled as a “bully” on Vanderpump Rules for demanding James Kennedy be fired over his fat-shaming comments at SUR Restaurant, a report claims Katie has been targeted with mean messages from her followers on social media.
“Katie is struggling really badly with weight and fat shaming comments,” a source told Radar Online on March 27. “She’s been attacked heavily on social media lately and has been trying to handle it but it’s really hard for her.”
While Katie and her husband, Tom Schwartz, were at odds on Monday night’s Vanderpump Rules, mainly due to the fact that Katie felt Tom wasn’t giving her as much attention as he should, the insider went on to reveal that the TomTom co-owner was trying to encourage Katie to ignore the online drama.
“Tom is trying to help her with the struggle and he’s defending her and trying to tell her to just ignore it, but she can’t,” the source said. “She was getting to a place of acceptance and these online attacks have caused her to be super unhappy lately.”
Just last week, Tom opened up about the fat-shaming his wife has been facing during an interview with Hollywood Life.
“I’m pretty disgusted by some of the things people say about my wife online,” Tom said at the time. “We have chosen to share our lives with the public and understand it can elicit some strong opinions which for the most part we enjoy. Lately though, they have been so toxic and seething.”
Tom went on to say that despite the drama, he and Katie are “happier than ever.”
“I love my beautiful wife. She’s sexy, funny and I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together,” he added.
Vanderpump Rules season seven airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo TV.
