According to a new report, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star would love to move on with her life but because her husband is still waiting to find out if his appeal will be successful, she feels trapped.
“Teresa wants to move on with her life, but due to Joe’s deportation case, it’s not that easy! It’s been over three years since Joe was sent to jail for fraud so it’s not surprising that Teresa feels like she doesn’t have a husband,” the insider revealed to In Touch Weekly on April 3.
In October of last year, just months before he was scheduled to be released from custody, a judge ordered Joe to be deported back to Italy upon the completion of his 41-month prison term. Then, after appealing the order in November, Joe was released from prison in March and immediately transferred to an immigration detention center.
“I’ve been here my whole life, I wouldn’t know what to do in any other country,” Joe said during his deportation hearing last year. “I want to stay here.”
As his appeal is considered, Joe is expected to remain at the immigration detention center for up to one year.
“Now that there’s an appeal, who knows that the outcome is going to be, it’s really dragging on,” the source said. “Obviously Teresa still loves Joe, but she needs some kind of closure on what seems to be a never-ending legal battle. She’s trying to have a good time without Joe, but feels trapped in their marriage.”
Teresa and Joe have been married for 19 years and share four daughters.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s 10th season is currently in production and expected to air later this year on Bravo TV.
