After years of being accused of manipulating her co-stars, Lisa was slammed by several cast members of the series, including Lisa Rinna, Teddi Mellencamp, and Dorit Kemsley, who accused her of trying to make them, and others, “look bad.”
After explaining that after joining the show during season five, she gave Lisa V. the benefit of the doubt, despite what she had heard, Lisa R. said she suspected her co-star’s alleged conniving behavior was her way of creating an entertaining series.
“If I can give her any credit when it comes to this is I think she’s trying to make a good show and I think she knows how to do it so that she can look like she’s perfect and get other people to do it and look bad,” Rinna explained. “Because you need people to tell a story and look bad.”
While Lisa R. admitted to falling into a trap with Lisa V., she said she’s now much smarter.
“I’ll tell you what, I’ve watched it now for five years and I’m no f**king dummy anymore, honey,” she said. “And that’s why this year I can sit there and go, ‘Oh, guess what? You set them up.’”
During The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season nine, Lisa V. was accused of leaking a story to Radar Online that suggested Dorit had abandoned a dog she adopted from Vanderpump Dogs. Then, after the story was shared, Lisa V. went to another outlet and denied the report.
“To me, [the story] being leaked isn’t really the story. It’s the constant behavior of repeatedly doing everything you can to make others look bad so you can look good,” Teddi said of the doggy drama. “If somebody is trying to hurt somebody else while pretending they’re not, it’s very hard to watch.”
According to Teddi, it was no coincidence that the story came out before season nine premiered and suspected Lisa V. wanted to “start skewing the audience in advance” to get them on her side.
“I know this person. I haven’t been around that long but I know what she’s been accused of,” Dorit added of Lisa V. “It’s very difficult for me to consider that a dear friend of mine would do this. But, it was done with the hopes of her swooping in to be my hero. Lisa Vanderpump is either the victim or the hero.”
In response to her co-stars’ claims, Lisa questioned why her “hypothetically” smart co-stars would allow themselves to be manipulated.
“How, if you are a smart woman… Well, hypothetically, let’s say, they are all smart women, how could you possibly be manipulated?” she asked. “I don’t think I’ve ever been guilty, or maybe when I was three or four, of saying, ‘Well, I did this because someone told me to.’ I mean, what are we talking about? We’re talking about women that are on television shows, women that have got self-confidence. We’re not talking about shy retiring mice in the corner.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season nine airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo TV.
