The Kelly Dodd train rumor is rearing its ugly head once again, and this time around, the drama surrounding the allegations against the Real Housewives of Orange County star have taken an odd turn.
During an episode of the RHOC After Show on Tuesday, Kelly confirmed to a producer that Tamra Judge was the “source of the rumors” as Tamra defended herself and newcomer Braunwyn Windham-Burke admitted it was she who should be taking “full responsibility.”
“Shannon and Vicki had gone out in Newport and they met one of Kelly’s, I don’t know if it is a current friend, but it was a friend that she had known for a long time. And he told them the story about how she does cocaine and that one time she pulled a train in a public place, and a lot of other things,” Tamra explained.
According to Kelly, the man who brought up the rumors is a “shyster” who told her that Shannon and Vicki had questioned him about what dirt he may have on Kelly.
“The guy that brought up the train rumor is a bit of a shyster,” said Kelly. “I talked to him on the phone, [and asked] why would you say something? He’s like they were asking me if I knew any dirt on you.”
Looking back, Shannon admitted that the man told them he was just repeating a rumor he had heard and that he didn’t actually witness any such thing. Shannon added that she made it clear to her co-stars that the claims against Kelly were “outrageous” and shouldn’t be brought up again. But, as fans saw during an earlier episode of RHOC, the rumors were ultimately mentioned by Tamra, who claimed to have brought them up only out of frustration with Vicki Gunvalson, who continuously hinted at the reports.
“When we were at dinner that night, that was probably about the third or fourth time that Vicki kept saying, ‘I know something way worse.’ I kind of called her bluff. I’m like, ‘Oh, the train?’ In my defense, I never did it in a malicious way in my head. If you are going to keep saying, ‘I know something, I know something but I’m not going to tell,’ I’m going to go ahead and say it,” Tamra explained.
“I don’t think she ever would though,” Gina Kirscheneheiter noted. “I think Vicki knows it’s a matter of time until she’s just so freaking annoying enough that somebody else will say it.”
While it was Vicki who hinted at the rumors, and Tamra who actually said them, Braunwyn put the blame on herself.
“I have to take full responsibility for that,” Braunwyn admitted. “Because when we were in the car… I didn’t understand that when they said, ‘We’re never going to tell Kelly,’ that was their way of protecting Kelly. I didn’t realize that [giving Kelly a heads up] was the worse thing I could have done.”
Tamra and Gina both understood why Braunwyn took responsibility. As Gina explained, the mother of seven was the one who handed Kelly the rumor bomb and allowed her to blow it up.
“Yeah, Braunwyn did it,” Tamra agreed.
