While sitting beside Gina Kirschenheiter during a taping of the Real Housewives of Orange County: After Show, Tamra opened up about the way in which the show has changed before admitting that she “probably” made it much darker than it’s been in past years.
“Coming on my first season, I thought that I was going to be on one year and that was it. We were just documenting our life and having fun… and then it just got dark,” Tamra explained.
“I probably made it dark, probably,” Tamra admitted as Gina let out a laugh. “I think I was the first one to ever come on and challenge anything or call anybody out. I was a little bit more edgier in my conversations and it was just a different show.”
Tamra joined RHOC during its third season and, according to her, it was all about going to lunch and having fun at the time. Then, as the seasons continued and her pot stirring increased, so did the drama and tension amongst cast members, most famously during season four of the show when she attempted to get co-star Gretchen Rossi “wasted” to see if Gretchen would end up cheating on her then-fiance as Tamra suspected she was only with him for his money.
“I remember the first dinner I had with all the girls I said something political and they all went, ‘[Gasp]! Oh my God, she did not just say that!’ And their heads went down I’m like, ‘What the f**k? What’s wrong?'” Tamra recalled.
During the most recent season of RHOC, season 14, Tamra started off the season by mentioning the “train” rumor about Kelly Dodd, which was initially brought up off-camera by Vicki Gunvalson, and she also butted heads with Kelly over her attempt to get involved in Jim Bellino‘s $1 million lawsuit against her and Shannon Beador.
