Nearly a year after Matt was arrested for an alleged assault on the Real Housewives of Orange County star, Gina shared a photo of herself, Matt, and their three kids, including their sons Nicholas and Cruz, and said they were co-parenting and putting their kids “first always.”
“Happy birthday to our beautiful daughter Sienna Rose. So much fun celebrating you last night!” Gina wrote, also including the hashtags, “#coparent” and “#putthekidsfirstalways.”
Also included in Gina’s birthday post for Sienna was a video of the child sharing a kiss with her dad as her party guests sang “Happy Birthday” to her and mom Gina arrived with a cake.
Following Gina’s post, her RHOC co-star, Emily Simpson, weighed in, writing: “Love!!! Good job mom and dad.”
Former cast member Gretchen Rossi also reached out. “Love seeing you all come together for the kiddos,” she said.
In addition to Gina’s allegations against Matt, the exes also battled over child support in court after Matt tried to get the $10,000 monthly amount he was ordered to pay Gina reduced on the basis that he had lost his job following his arrest. Instead, he wanted the court to order Gina to pay him support. Matt also tried to get his kids banned from appearing on the RHOC while Gina wanted the courts to order random drug/alcohol testing for Matt.
During an interview with Us Weekly in October, Gina discussed her co-parenting relationship with Matt and said she was hopeful that their dynamic would improve after being limited to corresponding on a government monitored site after their messy split.
“I don’t think that it has to be bad forever,” she shared. “I’m a hopeful person, so I’m still really hopeful that in the future it won’t be like this and we can create kind of, like, ‘the new normal’ and set up really good boundaries to respect each other and still have a healthy co-parenting relationship for our kids.”
It appears things started to take a turn for the better last November as Gina revealed Matt actually met her new boyfriend, Travis Mullen, stating that while the meeting was a bit “weird” for her, it went well.
