Amid the coronavirus outbreak that’s affecting families across America, former Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan King Edmonds is sharing how she is handling custody with her ex Jim Edmonds as she is also responding to criticism after taking her kids out for a stroll.
The RHOC alum took to Instagram live on Tuesday, March 24 to explain how she’s keeping the children she shares with estranged husband Jim with her for the time being.
“At the advice of our pediatrician, we have decided that our kids are going to stay where they were when this whole ‘safer at home’ started,” the reality star said in the video. “And it was with me, so they’re going to stay with me until this passes. Stay safe guys.”
Meghan, 35, also caught a bit of flack from fans after she shared a photo of herself going for a walk with daughter Aspen, 3, and twin sons Hart and Hayes, 21 months, over the weekend.
“Gang’s all here! Goin’ on a little family stroll because the LA sun is out and fresh air is free (thank God ☀️????????) plus I wanted to put this cute outfit to werkkk,” she wrote on March 22, along with a photo of herself and her kids posing on a sidewalk.
After some of her followers called her out for not staying home with her children, Meghan defended her actions.
The Missouri native wrote: “Los Angeles County is under a ‘safer-at-home’ order NOT a ‘lockdown’ or ‘shelter-in-place’ order. Here’s the major difference: Going outside, going to the beach, going on hikes, riding bikes, and going on walks are all ENCOURAGED as long as social distancing of at least 6’ from anyone outside of your household is observed (which is what my family has been practicing religiously).”
The “Intimate Knowledge” podcaster married Jim back in 2014 but broke it off five years later (a fate some say co-star Vicki Gunvalson adequately predicted). The two have had their ups and downs post-separation, with Meghan seemingly resenting Jim’s new flame (and former pal), Kourtnie O’Connor, but then swearing everything was actually fine.
The reality star also detailed the extent of her newfound “quarantine life” on her blog.
