Denise Richards Explains the RHOBH's Hiatus and Admits to Being "Very Naive" When She Joined Show, Addresses How Much Filming She Missed

Denise Richards didn’t know what she was getting herself into when she joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for season nine in 2018.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show on Tuesday, Denise opened up about her first and second seasons on the Bravo reality show and explained the difference between them before confirming how much filming she missed of season 10 and addressing the series’ current hiatus.

“I went in very naive, I think, the very first season,” Denise admitted. “I want to be myself because some people do know of me and I didn’t want to play a character. I just wanted to be myself on the show and… just react how I really would.”

According to Denise, she had a great time getting to know her RHOBH castmates during season nine but felt that season 10 was much more challenging.

“I had fun with them and I genuinely formed some great friendships [during season nine],” she shared.

As for season 10, Denise described the production of the new episodes as “very different.”

“It’s been a different experience. But, you know, people are watching. So, that’s good,” Denise noted.

While it was revealed during the premiere episode of RHOBH season 10 that Denise didn’t attend all cast events during filming, she said on the radio show that she only missed two parties “towards the end” of filming in December.

“I didn’t stop filming and I actually think I filmed something on FaceTime for one of the parties. The other party I did not go to. So, I didn’t stop filming,” Denise insisted. “We completely wrapped for the season.”

Denise then said that when it comes to the RHOBH hiatus, during which new episodes won’t return until July 8, the ongoing pandemic is to blame.

“I think we’re on hiatus because we got so far behind with the confessionals with the COVID. We just recently started doing them where we’re filming ourselves, basically,” she revealed. “We got behind for that. So I think that’s part of the reason why we have to go on hiatus. We gotta catch up with the episodes.”
