Scott Kluth claims Tinsley Mortimer was not blindsided by their breakup as a source says the former Real Housewives of New York City star simply wasn’t taking the hint.
Following the news of Tinsley and Scott’s split on March 18, their camps have continued to go back and forth in the press.
According to a source close to Tinsley, the reality star was blindsided and beyond devastated when Scott suddenly ended their 4-year relationship during a heated argument last Friday. However, according to his camp, that couldn’t be further from the truth because the Coupon King has allegedly been trying to convince the reality star it’s over for months.
“Her perception of when they broke up is clearly different from Scott’s, but Scott communicated to her that they were broken up months ago,” a source told Page Six.
This comes following a report that Tinsley’s friends are furious with the businessman for torturing the socialite and resorting back to his old ways.
“He tortured her. For years he would break up with her and get back together with her and break up with her again,” one of Tinsley’s friends said on March 18. “But when he proposed, she believed he meant it. She left her career, she left her livelihood, she left her home, and suddenly he’s back to his old tricks again and he called off the engagement.”
When her friends were confronted with the claim that she just wasn’t taking the hint, they explained that if this is true, it’s simply because she was confused due to the “break-up-and-get-back-together cycle.”
“He would do that and then get back together with her,” one friend explained. “It was ‘we’re together,’ then ‘let’s take some space,’ then ‘we’re not together.’ A real mindf*ck.”
The person added, “This was the type of pattern he would do to her through the four years they were dating and now that she left her career and basically everything for him, she had no choice but to try and make it work and stick it out with him through this unhealthy pattern.”
Tinsley and Scott began dating in 2017 after they hit it off on a blind date set up by Tinsley’s former co-star, Carole Radziwill. The former couple’s relationship was on-and-off for nearly three years, but Scott finally proposed in November 2019. Then, a short time later, Tinsley announced her exit from RHONY.
