A number of past and present cast members of The Real Housewives of Atlanta were in attendance on Monday when Nene Leakes‘ late husband, Gregg Leakes, was honored with a Celebration of Life ceremony at Nene’s Linnethia Lounge in Duluth, Georgia.
Just five days after a family friend confirmed that Gregg had lost his battle with cancer, Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks, Kim Zolciak, Marlo Hampton, Porsha Williams, Eva Marcille, Drew Sidora, Shamea Morton, and Lisa Wu joined Apollo Nida, Kroy Biermann, Simon Guobadia, Ralph Pittman Jr. and Peter Thomas to look back on their good times with Gregg.
In an invitation shared by Nene on Instagram, it was noted that Gizelle Bryant‘s former husband, Jamal Bryant, would be sharing words of inspiration and that Yolanda Adams, Tamar Braxton, Keke Wyatt, Le’Andria Johnson, and Kim Burrell would be performing.
In a series of photos shared by Bravo Fan Down Under on Instagram, Nene was seen reuniting with Porsha, Shamea, Phaedra, and Apollo as Kenya spent time with Eva and Phaedra.
Meanwhile, Peter spent time with Drew and Ralph.
In a post of her own, Nene admitted to hesitating to share photos from Gregg’s celebration before thanking her supportive fans and vowing to stay strong.
“SWIPE: It took a whole day for me to decide if i wanted to post pictures from Gregg’s ‘Celebration Of Life’ Ceremony. (The rest of the pictures will be in my story) What a celebration it was!” Nene recalled. “Packed Packed Packed! I am grateful for all of you. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! I LOVE GREGG SO MUCH AND MISS HIM A LOT. I will continue to be strong and celebrate his life.”
During an appearance at The Linnethia Lounge at the end of last month, Nene responded to criticism over her allegedly rude behavior to a guest by revealing that Gregg was “transitioning to the other side.”
“We walked in this lounge because we had to walk in this lounge because this is our business. So, when people approach and say, ‘You’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday,’ my husband is at home dying… So please, give us some respect… I’m hurting,” she explained.
“I am heartbroken over the passing of Gregg Leakes, a wonderful man. I jokingly called him ‘Pastor Leakes’ but in truth he was a strong voice of reason [and] commanded great respect among the entire [RHOA] team. I am sending love and strength to [Nene Leakes and] the entire Leakes family,” Andy wrote on Twitter.
“I am so saddened to hear of his passing. My heart and prayers go out to [Nene Leakes] and her family. Gregg was a good man, so kind & so loving. I will miss him, and will always honor his memory with love,” Cynthia said on Instagram.
“My prayers go out to [Nene Leakes and] her family,” added Kandi. “[Gregg Leakes] was an amazing man who always brought love & great energy to any room he walked into. I’m thankful for the great memories I have of him. Rest in peace Gregg.”
