Sutton Stracke almost quit her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after her dramatic encounter with Erika Jayne at Kathy Hilton‘s “dinner party from hell.”
After Erika was seen threatening to come after her in response to Sutton’s many inquiries regarding the lawsuits and claims of embezzlement against her, Sutton admitted she nearly walked away from the show before sharing why she ultimately decided it was “important” for her to stay.
On the September 8 episode of the RHOBH: After Show, Sutton revealed she found herself “confounded” amid her dinner table dispute with Erika before deciding to leave.
“I sat there and I thought, ‘Alright, I’m going to take this one. I’m not going to cry.’ And I thought, ‘Nope, I’m leaving because I’m not going to sit here and have someone like that threaten me.’ I’m not going to sugarcoat this. I’m not going to do it because I really am no longer afraid of this and I think it’s really important to understand those threats seemed really real and scary. I’m not being a baby about this. I was like, ‘I’m out. This is not worth it,’” Sutton recalled.
Then, when a producer asked her if she was actually leaving the group entirely when she left the table, Sutton confirmed she was ready to walk away from the RHOBH cast.
“Oh yeah, I was leaving. I’m not going to have somebody threaten me like that, threaten my family like that. No. Not worth it,” she explained. “This is serious stuff, which is why I brought it up in December. Look where we are today. It was serious stuff and I was right… about how serious this was, this is. And I don’t think I was in the wrong to start this conversation with the women.”
Although Sutton had made up her mind at the table, she later had a change of heart after a chat with her friend and co-star, Garcelle Beauvais, and she came to the realization that she did not want to be bullied off the show by Erika.
“I didn’t want to leave being bullied out. That’s not okay and I don’t want to show that to my children,” she stated. “You have to keep your integrity, especially when you’re not in the wrong. It’s not like I’m making fun of something or throwing slander. That’s not what was happening. And I couldn’t go out like that.”
“I can’t not do this. It was too important for my reputation so I stayed,” Sutton added.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 11 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
