Southern Charm star Naomie Olindo was a show staple for quite some time following her turbulent relationship and eventual breakup with OG Craig Conover, however, after season 6 Naomie abruptly abandoned the hit Charleston-based reality show, and now she’s revealing why.
Per Showbiz Cheatsheet, while appearing on The Skinny Confidential Him and Her podcast Naomie said one of her decisions to leave had all to do with her then -fiancé Metul Shah.
“He’s a doctor, you know, those two things don’t really go hand in hand, and he was a resident, and he needed to apply for fellowships,” Naomie explained. “I was totally willing to give up the show for what I thought to be a healthy and loving relationship because that’s what I would prioritize over a reality show, obviously.”
Well, we all saw how that relationship turned out after Naomie discovered Metul was having an affair and slamming him as a “narcissist.”
Naomie went on to reveal that leaving the show was not only for the benefit of her relationship, but that her father’s heartbreaking passing also factored into the equation as she couldn’t imagine filming while going through the grieving process.
“I did meet with the network a couple of times [prior to season 7],” Naomie said. “I could not imagine sitting down and filming [after my dad’s death], I couldn’t even pretend to care.”
After her personal life imploded, Naomie decided to shift gears quickly and decided it was in her best interest to return to Southern Charm, saying she practically “begged” to come back to the franchise, repeatedly apologizing for past negative comments about the show.
“I had to like beg my way back [and] I was like, ‘Guys, please. I know I quit, and I know I told everybody to f*** off. But please, I’m very depressed, and I really want to come back. I don’t know what I’m going to do if I’m back in Charleston,’ and they’re like, ‘All right,’” Naomie told the podcast.
Well, it worked! Naomie’s back!
While she’s been busy filming and getting her life in order, she’s also been refreshing her home and living room. In photos shared by Bravo’s Style and Living, Naomie showed off her new home with accents of black, gold, and yellow on Instagram.
Naomie even made a sweet reference to the connection between her late father and her sofa.
“I remember my dad making me drive to Charlotte in college to pick it up to save on shipping,” she wrote. “Probably will hang on to this until its final breath.”
Southern Charm season 8 has wrapped filming and is set to premiere sometime later this year.
