Mike Shouhed has scored a deal with prosecutors that will dismiss the charges he was hit with following his domestic violence arrest in March.
Months after Mike, of the former Bravo series Shahs of Sunset, was accused of getting physical with fiancée Paulina Ben-Cohen and faced with a slew of misdemeanors as well as weapon charges, a new report has confirmed he is no longer facing domestic violence and battery charges — as long as he completes a few classes.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ on October 10, Mike agreed to a deal with prosecutors that will result in his misdemeanor charges, which include domestic violence, battery, and unlawfully attempting to dissuade a witness, being dismissed.
As the outlet explained, prosecutors agreed to let Mike enroll in a diversion program that will put an end to his case once he completes anger management and parenting classes, his community service requirements, and a gun safety course.
As Shahs of Sunset fans may recall, Mike was dealt with a handful of weapons charges, including criminal storage of a loaded firearm and possession of an assault weapon, when he was arrested in March. And as part of the diversion program, he will not be allowed to own or possess any weapons during his time on the program, which lasts two years.
Following the news of Mike’s agreement with prosecutors, his attorney, George Mgdesyan, released a statement to TMZ.
“In this case, the DA didn’t bring this case because they saw the facts like I did. If this case was brought to trial, the prosecution would not be able to prove it. All my client’s guns were legal, in his bedroom that was locked with a keypad. No one was allowed in the master bedroom,” the statement read.
“It was unfortunate that there was one weapon registered to my client before laws changed, and it was a technical violation. However, the City Attorney’s Office charged him with gun charges. In light of the offer, he was not convicted and will earn a dismissal that’s in his best interest because the domestic violence charges were dismissed. If the domestic violence charges were not dismissed, we would proceed to trial. It was a no brainer,” he continued.
Although Mike and Paulina have not confirmed the current status of their relationship, they were seen at the beach with her kids in Los Cabos just weeks after his arrest. And around the same time, Paulina released a statement about the arrest to Reality Blurb.
“We are working with the authorities to seek a just and fair outcome to this sad situation. The family appreciates your space and respect for their privacy during this time,” she stated.
Mike is due back in court in January for a progress assessment.
