Bristol Palin‘s former husband Dakota Meyer took aim at Teen Mom OG and Viacom in a series of posts on Twitter this week, as he also shared an update on his co-parenting relationship with Bristol.
As the eighth season of the reality series neared its end, Dakota lashed out at the current direction of the show, claiming that while the series was created to showcase the struggles of teenage mothers, it now seems more like one of the Real Housewives shows.
“What’s sad is that @Viacom has turned @TeenMom into a trailer trash Real Housewives instead of showing what the true struggles of parenting are. I’ll bring my VLOG back and show you what single parenting looks like since they can’t seem to figure it out,” he wrote on Tuesday.

After Dakota shared his thoughts, one woman agreed with him and suggested MTV change the name of the series.
“I’m happy for their success in life, but I was a teen mom and can’t relate to their ‘struggles’ anymore. Not to mention most of them are close to 30,” the viewer wrote.
“Exactly,” Dakota replied. “This is what I have told the entire network at @TeenMom. What they show is not relatable or empowering to teen mothers out there.”

Dakota shares two children, Sailor, 2, and Atlee, 18 months, with Bristol, who joined the series’ cast in July of this year after the sudden exit of Farrah Abraham.
Later, Dakota took to his YouTube channel where he shared an update on his co-parenting relationship with his ex-wife Bristol. Surprisingly, Dakota reveals their relationship is better than ever these days.
“The co-parenting is actually a lot better. It’s been great I’ll tell for the last 10 [or] 15 days. It’s been awesome,” shared Dakota.
“We’ve been working back and forth. When I need to go do something, Bristol helps with the kids,” he continued. “I will say that our relationship today is better than it’s ever been. I have no reason to believe that’s going to change. Ever since the reunion [taping], it’s been great.”
One month after Bristol’s addition to the show, she and Dakota divorced after two years of marriage but remained committed to maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship with one another for the sake of their children.
Bristol is also mom to nine-year-old son Tripp, who she shares with ex-boyfriend Levi Johnston.
Teen Mom OG season eight airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on MTV.
