RHOC's Emily Simpson Reveals the Most Hurtful Comment She Gets From Fans and Explains Why Shane Has a Chip on His Shoulder

Emily Simpson recently appeared on a podcast with Cherie Rickard, and during their chat, the Real Housewives of Orange County star addressed a number of hot topics, including the on-screen behavior of her husband, Shane Simpson, and which comments from fans on social media she finds to be the most hurtful.

Following a number of episodes in which Shane didn’t “come off the best,” Emily said she’s grown tired of defending her man before opening up about her weight and why Shane comes off badly on the RHOC.

“I don’t even explain anymore. It’s not even worth my time,” Emily shared on the Real Girl Talk podcast about the ongoing negativity over her husband’s behavior on the show.

While Emily is done fighting back, she admitted that it hurts her feelings when fans on social media tell her to leave Shane.

“The comments that bother me the most, I think, are the ones that tell me to leave my husband. You can say, ‘He’s a jerk, I don’t like him on the show.’ That’s fine. Based upon the small clips they show, I get it. He doesn’t come off the best. But we have small children together and he is a very good dad,” Emily said.

“You’re talking about an 11-year marriage with three children and two step-children. There’s a lot more to Shane than the 10-second [clips],” she continued.

Since Emily was added to the cast of RHOC, she has faced criticism over her size, but as she told Cherie, she doesn’t have any issues with the way she looks and doesn’t feel that her haters should be focusing on her appearance.

“I always knew that I wasn’t built like other girls. I was always bigger and taller and more voluptuous and it never bothered me. I never had a problem with the way I look. It wasn’t really until I went on [RHOC] that all of a sudden, people did,” she shared. “And it was so disturbing to me that there were so many women out there that just took the time and effort to just criticize.”

In addition, Emily found it strange that people were taking issue with her size when she’s no bigger than the average American.

“When people were coming at me, saying all these horrible things, I was like, ‘You’re basically insulting the majority of the population of America.’ It’s so sad to me when people are saying this when so many women look like me and are built like me,” Emily said.

Lastly, Emily explained why Shane has a chip on his shoulder.

“He doesn’t want to be a superstar. He doesn’t want to be on TV. He doesn’t really want to film the show. He begrudgingly does it and then he has a chip on his shoulder,” she explained.

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 14 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo TV.
