Kathryn Dennis‘ former boyfriend, ex-senator Joseph Abruzzo, appeared in court on October 14, where he reportedly gave a nine-hour subpoenaed deposition against her as she battled Thomas Ravenel for custody of their two children, five-year-old Kensington and three-year-old Saint Julien.
According to court documents, Joseph, who dated Kathryn for about two months in late 2018, accused the Southern Charm star of drinking heavily and making poor decisions for her children.
On November 3, All About the Tea shared the court documents with readers, revealing that at one point in the deposition, Joseph looked back on Halloween of last year.
Speaking to the court, Joseph revealed that after visiting Kathryn at her Charleston home to go trick-or-treating with her and her kids, Kathryn left Saint Julien alone with him for hours.
“She went ahead with her daughter and her friends, and Saint started to lag back. So I was watching Saint, and they got a good full block or more ahead, and he — you know, Saint — I don’t know if he understood what was going on with trick-or-treating or not, but he — you know, they were way up there. They just kind of left us behind,” he recalled.
Because Saint Julien wasn’t able to keep up with Kathryn and his sister, Joseph picked him up and carried him to his mom.
“She said, ‘You know what, could you just bring him back to the house? And I will be there — I will be right there,'” he shared.
At this point in time, Joseph had just met Saint Julien and had only spent time with Kathryn on five or six occasions.
While Kathryn reportedly told Joseph that she would meet him and Saint Julien back at the house shortly after their conversation, she and Kensington stayed out with her friends for several more hours. And, when they did finally return home, Joseph revealed they brought a rowdy crowd with them, who eventually woke up a sleeping Saint Julien.
“I was taken back that she just neglected her son,” he said.
Joseph stated that he lost interest in Kathryn shortly following that incident after she allegedly skipped business meetings and deals that he set up for her, adding that he also paid an attorney to protect her interest. He added that he broke up with her two weeks later.
Looking back on their brief relationship, Joseph alleged Kathryn had two back-to-back breakdowns during their time together, during which she was crying and speaking frantically.
“There was never a time that she wasn’t under at least the influence of alcohol,” he continued.
Joseph also claimed that Kathryn not only failed to provide her children with reasonable bedtimes, but also failed to provide them with a clean home.
Following Joseph’s testimony, Kathryn and Thomas agreed to 50-50 custody of their kids, with Thomas being granted primary custody of them.
