Ramona Singer revealed she is no longer suffering from Lyme disease during an interview on Wednesday and was quickly called out by a fan for her potential lies about her months-long bout with the illness.
After the Real Housewives of New York City cast member confirmed her Lyme disease “is gone,” she responded to fans who “[called] bullsh*t” on her claim while also targeting her newest co-star, Leah McSweeney, for trashing her home on the upcoming episode of season 12.
“We have fabulous news,” Ramona declared to the Daily Mail during a video call on April 22. “My Lyme is gone. I don’t have chronic Lyme, my immune system is strong again.”
“I can drink my wine again, which is very important when you’re quarantining,” she added.
Following a February diagnosis, Ramona began working with Dr. Daryl Gioffre and Dr. Bernard Schayes to regain her health after a “debilitating” battle with the illness.
“I feel strong and I’m not tired, and that’s the best thing. I mean, I love having my energy. I’m back to walking now two miles a day. I can run a mile plus I can do a class, plus I can lift my weights,” she shared.
After her interview, Ramona shared her exciting news with fans on her Instagram page, telling them that she is “feeling healthier than ever.” In response to her news, a couple of people suggested she wasn’t being honest.
“Ok so I have dealt with Lyme disease for the last [three] years and I call bullsh*t on you Ramona!” the first person wrote.
“I caught it early so it left my system … it’s not chronic Lyme,” Ramona explained, along with a praying hands emoji.
Another fan told Ramona that it isn’t even possible to recover from Lyme disease.
“Once it’s in your system, it does not go away. It’s something you have to deal with and manage for the rest of your life. It flares up and subsides randomly. If you wanna be in the press [and] miss the lime light there are better ways to do it [than] spreading misinformation,” the person said.
“Dr. Bernard Schayes of NYC said some people are not cured because their immune system malfunctions but mine worked,” Ramona replied.
Also during her interview with the Daily Mail, Ramona said that when it comes to the upcoming episode of RHONY, she thinks she’ll need to “have a Xanax” to get through it.
“This Leah girl – she’s out of control,” Ramona said.
According to Ramona, she left her home to attend a party that she and her co-stars were invited to during the show and returned home to find that after an apparent drinking binge, her castmates, particularly Leah, destroyed her home.
“I thought it was disrespectful, and it really made me very, very upset with Leah. I mean really upset. It’s my home, it’s my pride and joy, and they trashed it.”
The Real Housewives of New York City season 12 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
