Megan King Edmonds is Challenging Ex Jim Edmonds' Prenup Payout as Divorce at Heated Standstill, Jim's Rep Speaks Out

From a messy split to a messy custody battle and now a messy prenup payout — the drama doesn’t slow down for Meghan King Edmonds and her ex, Jim Edmonds.

The former Real Housewives of Orange County stars are at it again over disagreements regarding their prenuptial agreement, as Meghan is contesting the terms and spousal support she’s set to receive.

A rep for the retired baseball player, however, is sure Meghan’s requests will be denied.

“Jim’s prenuptial agreement is valid, enforceable and generous for a five-year marriage, and we fully expect it to be upheld,” Steve Honig told E! News. “Despite any claims being made, both Meghan and her attorney at the time reviewed the agreement several weeks before the wedding and everyone involved agreed to the terms. Meghan herself has publicly explained the agreement was done at her urging because she didn’t want Jim’s family to think she was trying to take his money.”

Meghan has previously openly discussed the nature of their prenup while on the RHOC, maintaining that her heart was in the right place with Jim. She also wanted her intentions as a stepmother to be understood (Jim has four children of his own from previous relationships).

“Way before we ever got engaged, I suggested him getting a prenup to protect his feelings about our marriage, about where my heart is coming from,” Meghan said on the show. “And honestly, a big part of the reason, totally aside from the whole marriage thing, why I wanted it is to protect the children because I never wanted the children’s mothers or the children to think that me as their stepmom or as this new person in their life was going to take things from them.”

Since separating last year, Meghan and Jim have engaged in a nasty public battle over divorce proceedings, custody agreements, and child support payments. The former couple currently shares 50-50 custody of their children, daughter Aspen and twin boys Hart and Hayes, but they faced complications over travel and living arrangements, intensified by the coronavirus pandemic.

Meghan also recently shaded Jim’s child support arrangement, saying it “barely pays for groceries” for her and the kids.

Jim’s rep fired back at Meghan’s claim, explaining how Jim pays “more than three times” the amount suggested by the court and continues to pick up the tab for many of Meghan’s living expenses.

“He is letting her live in one of his homes in St. Louis and is paying the mortgage and all the bills for that house. He gives her money for her full time nanny and housekeeper,” the rep stated. “He pays for practically every single expense related to the children. And, if that wasn’t enough, he pays half the rent on her Los Angeles beach house. Jim has been beyond generous to Meghan and provides full financial support for his children.”

Although Meghan hasn’t been the most private about her feelings for her ex amid their divorce, she’s apparently taking the high road over the prenup gossip and keeping things low-key.

“I’m looking forward to putting this behind me amicably and I don’t wish to discuss the private details of my divorce at this time,” she stated.

Even with their heavy divorce drama, the two have both moved on to new partners, with Jim dating Kortnie O’Connor and Meghan recently making it Instagram official with entrepreneur Christian Schauf.
