REPORT: Dorinda Medley Was "Fired" From RHONY in What a Production Insider Claims is a "Big Mistake" for Bravo, Plus Bethenny Frankel Reacts to Her Departure

Dorinda Medley may have been the one to announce her exit from the Real Housewives of New York City, but according to a new report, she didn’t quit.

While Bravo has yet to speak out about the news, an insider claims Dorinda was informed that the network decided to give her the boot on Tuesday, just two days after she learned that her dear friend Jon Giswold had passed away.

“It’s a big mistake,” a production source told the Daily Mail on August 25. “We’re all surprised as even though she had a tough season, she is a fan favorite who people are rooting for. You watch, this is an error that they will regret.”

“Think about it, there will be no more Clip!, no more Bluestone Manor and no more voice of reason. How will the show celebrate the holidays without Dorinda? What are we going to do, follow Luann’s virtual cabaret show next season?” the source continued.

As RHONY fans may have seen, Dorinda confirmed the tragic news of Jon’s passing to her fans and followers on Instagram on Monday.

“It’s pretty s****y that she was told the day after her close friend Jon died,” the insider noted, adding that Bravo and Shed Media, their production company, “could’ve waited a week.”

In her tribute post to Jon, Dorinda described the RHONY guest star, who helped her launch her aerobics class, Dorobics, as a “dear friend” and her “ride or die.”

“[Jon] was my ride or die, my 5:30 in the morning FaceTime, my thoughts and dreams person, my Dorobics buddy, My Forever Friend. I will miss you dearly and smile every time I see a rainbow, hear Donna Summers on the radio, and wake up too early in the morning,” she shared.

In response to Dorinda’s exit from the show, former cast member Bethenny Frankel shared a photo of the two of them on her Instagram account.

“Every woman in this world wears a little sparkle, some in their dress, and some in their eyes,” Bethenny wrote. “Use each moment to make another’s eyes sparkle and to warm a heart. Don’t let anyone or anything dull your sparkle. Don’t let the insecurities of others dull your sparkle. You will be missed…let the next chapter begin.”

“That’s so beautiful! Thank you,” Dorinda replied.
