Braunwyn Windham-Burke went public with girlfriend Kris on Instagram on Wednesday night after the midseason trailer for The Real Housewives of Orange County saw her admitting to being in love with a mystery woman.
Following the release of the sneak peek, the mother-of-seven took to her Instagram Stories to share her first photo of herself and Kris as her husband, Sean Burke, reacted to the news of her sexual preference by sharing a Story of his own.
With a rainbow flag emoji and a pink hearts emoji, Braunwyn showed off her tattooed girlfriend to her fans and followers on December 2.
On December 3, PEOPLE confirmed Braunwyn’s girlfriend’s name is Kris while also sharing excerpts from her interview with GLAAD, during which the RHOC star said she had met someone she is “interested in pursuing a relationship with.”
“I like women. I’m gay,” she announced. “I’m a member of the LGBTQ+ community. It has taken me 42 years to say that but I am so proud of where I am right now. I’m so happy where I am. To be able to be comfortable in my own skin after so long is just so nice.”
Although Braunwyn is seeing someone new, Sean, the father of her children, including Bella, 20, Rowan, 18, Jacob, 15, Caden and Curran, 7, Koa, 4, and Hazel, 2, recently moved back into their Newport Beach home.
“Sean and I are still married, I plan on staying married,” she confirmed. “We are not sleeping in the same bedroom right now, but we are in the same house. We are raising our kids together, he’s my best friend.”
“I love Sean. I love him dearly, he is my person, he is my family, but I’m not attracted to men and I never have been,” Braunwyn continued, adding that the two of them are “in unchartered territories.”
While Braunwyn didn’t say much about Kris, she did reveal Sean “knows the girl I’m dating.”
Following the interview, Sean took to his Instagram Stories, where he shared a throwback photo of himself and Braunwyn and included an emotional message for his wife.
“I love you. I’m proud of you. And I support you. Always,” he wrote along with a rainbow emoji.
