Mary Cosby will be seen breaking down over her estrangement from her mother, Rosalind Cazares, on this Sunday’s new episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
On the heels of her heated conversation with Lisa Barlow on last week’s episode, during which she accused Lisa of “belittling” her, a sneak peek features Mary explaining why she was so triggered by Lisa doubting her comments about carbonation hardening ovaries, among other things, to Heather Gay and Whitney Rose.
“When you question me, it just triggers. I lost someone over that. Don’t question what I’m saying,” Mary begins.
“My mom was my friend, I thought, I thought that was my best friend. So I thought whatever I chose, she knew that I was capable of handling the right choice. But I lost my mom because I knew I was right and I wasn’t backing down. She cut me off,” Mary continues.
According to Mary, it was Robert Cosby Sr. and their marriage that caused her estrangement from her mother because her mother didn’t want her to marry Robert, who was Mary’s step-grandfather.
“When my grandmother passed and I married Robert Sr., my mom wanted everything,” Mary tells cameras in an RHOSLC cast confessional. “She [felt] it was her mom and that she should have been next in line, that she should have the church. And when we felt like that wasn’t the will of God, she just like, cut me off, was like, ‘I deserve that. You don’t.’”
“She wanted the security and the lifestyle and the money and the things that Robert Sr. could provide,” Heather suspects.
“She wanted to be you,” adds Whitney.
“When we departed, and I haven’t spoke to her in 25 years, it was because she didn’t believe what I said, so when people question me, like Lisa, like, ‘Oh, let me Google what Mary said,’ it takes me back to that wound,” Mary goes on in her confessional.
Meanwhile, as the scene with Heather and Whitney continues, Heather asks, “Does your mom want resolve?”
“No, and I think that’s what hurts the worst,” Mary responds.
Mary then confirms that her family is divided, with her mother and one of her brothers on one side and her and her sister and two brothers on another.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season two airs Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo.
