Jennie Nguyen claims she’s taking “full responsibility” for the racist posts shared to her Facebook page in 2020, but is she really?
After Jennie was exposed for a series of controversial and offensive Facebook posts and fired from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City as a result, she and a friend, a gay Black man named Michael, appeared on a live broadcast on Facebook, where she revealed she had a social media “team” at the time the posts were made.
“I just want you to understand during that time I [had] a team of people that [were] helping me. Whether they posted, I posted, it doesn’t really matter at this point. For me, it’s on my account and I take full responsibility and accountability for what was posted,” Jennie began, noting that she knows she “hurt a lot of people.”
“I know my viewpoint during that time in 2020 was emotional and it brings back a lot of memories during that time when we went through such a tragic, terrible year. And I just want you to know that I am taking full responsibility and accountability for the things that [were] posted on my account, whether it was me or somebody else,” she continued.
As the conversation continued, Jennie acknowledged her posts as “disgusting” but said her political views remain the same.
“My political stance, I still support that. I am very proud to be a Republican. I am proud to be able to say I have the freedom of speech to choose and to have an opinion,” she explained.
Then, as she and Michael continued to speak of Jennie’s character, with Michael insisting the ex-RHOSLC castmate is not a racist person today, he admitted that he was forced to step into Jennie’s family amid racial tensions.
“I definitely opened her eyes and the family’s eyes on why Black Lives Matter is so important and why the team made the wrong decision for her,” he explained. “That’s something that took a while to understand but she’s definitely picked up a lot and that’s why I’m sitting right next to her right now.”
Following Jennie’s broadcast, Jen Shah responded to her statements with a comment.
“She’s lying and she already admitted to my face she posted each and every one of those disgusting posts herself,” she revealed. “The fact she brings a Black man on her IG Live just confirms she has not learned nor is she sorry. This is performative slacktivism at its finest.”
Jen also said she hopes Jennie “can do the real work it will take to grow and change her racist, and Islamophobic views.”
Then, as she reshared a report on her response, she included a telling message from a fan, who encouraged Jen to “keep [her] foot on [Jennie’s] neck.”
“Learn from the situation. Don’t sugar coat and try to breeze by it,” the fan stated.
Meanwhile, in a series of posts shared on Tamra Judge‘s Instagram Story, one of which was deleted and captured, via screenshot, by Housewives Addicted on Instagram, Tamra said Jennie’s statements were a “crock of sh-t” — and “insulting” to fans.
“Who do they think they are fooling?” Tamra asked of Jennie and Michael. “[Bravo] fans are smart, stop insulting our intelligence.”
Along with Tamra’s second, and only remaining, post, she captured a comment left by Real Housewives superfan Christian Gray Snow, who wrote, “She’s not owning sh-t!!!!! Stop saying she’s owning it! You’re blaming it on a social media manager that you aren’t even naming.”
