Katie Maloney filed for divorce from Tom Schwartz on Tuesday. However, due to a lunch date last Saturday and the fact that the couple has remained living together at their $1.9 million home in the Valley Village neighborhood of Los Angeles, many have been wondering if a reconciliation is possible.
Fortunately, the Vanderpump Rules cast member wasted no time setting the record straight about her future with Tom after being approached by a photographer amid a shopping trip at the Grove on March 23, where she was asked if she and Tom would “get back together” or “call off the divorce.”
“I don’t think so,” Katie admitted, according to a report shared by E! News on March 24.
“This is it?” the photog replied.
“Yeah,” Katie confirmed.
While a reunion isn’t in the cards for Katie and Tom, that isn’t to say they are in a good place with one another. In fact, when asked about the split, Katie described her and Tom’s breakup as “peaceful” and “loving.”
“I could not have asked for a better situation,” she shared.
When the photog then wanted to know if cheating was behind her decision to call it quits with Tom, Katie made it clear there was “no infidelity” between them.
“We just grew apart, you know. We have a great friendship but things just happen sometimes, unfortunately,” she explained, adding that she’s “always going to love Tom.”
In her divorce petition filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by E! News, Katie listed her and Tom’s separation date as February 12. And, when it came to support, no spousal support was requested for either party.
As she and Tom proceed with their divorce, Katie noted in her documents that the two of them are still deciding on how they will divide up the property and assets they accrued amid their years-long marriage, which officially began in July 2019, although they first said “I do” in August 2016.
During an episode of her podcast last week, Katie Maloney, who cited “irreconcilable differences” in her divorce papers, opened up about the reason behind her and Tom’s breakup.
“Ultimately, I just wasn’t happy,” she told listeners. “There wasn’t some crazy fight that resulted in this. It was my decision, which was probably the hardest and most painful decision I’ve ever had to make…. I had really prioritized Tom, our relationship, and our future and wanted to plan for that so badly. But I didn’t often prioritize myself or my happiness. That was really what was weighing on me. I love being with him. But ultimately, I was just not fulfilled.”
