PHOTOS: RHONY Alum Alex McCord Updates Fans on New Life in Australia With Husband Simon Van Kempen and Teenage Sons

Alex McCord and her husband, Simon Van Kempen, are loving life in Australia.

Eight years after leaving New York City in lieu of a new life in New South Wales’ Byron Bay, the former Real Housewives of New York City has shared a series of photo updates on her family, including one that featured her and Simon enjoying an evening run in Brisbane.

“Early evening run in Brissy to work up an appetite for dinner – love that light,” Alex wrote in the caption of a December 10 photo that featured her and Simon standing in front of the Story Bridge at Brisbane’s River Walk.

More recently, on December 21, Alex shared a photo of herself holding a peer-reviewed article titled “Technology Enabled Crime: Examining the Role of Cryptocurrency.”

“Another published peer-reviewed journal article! This research examines the illicit uses of digital currencies,” she told fans.

Alex has also shared plenty of new photos of her and Simon’s two sons, Francois, 19, and Johan, 17.

As RHONY fans will recall, Alex and Simon, who’ve been married for 22 years, were featured on the first four seasons of the Bravo reality series before leaving the show — and the Big Apple — in 2014. From there, as the Daily Mail revealed, Alex pursued her master’s degree in psychology, and Simon studied law at Southern Cross University in 2020.

While Alex hasn’t been featured on the Real Housewives for some time, she did return to Bravo in 2017 for an appearance on Andy Cohen‘s late-night talk show Watch What Happens Live.

During the episode, Alex said that although she no longer watches the show she once starred on, she has maintained her friendship with former co-star Jill Zarin, describing Jill as a “great pen pal.”

Also, during the appearance, Alex admitted that while she thoroughly enjoys her new life with Simon and their sons in Australia, comparing the area to “living in the Hamptons year-round,” there are some things she misses about her life in New York City.

“[I miss] the ability to just walk outside your door and find stuff. Now we have to drive,” she explained.

The Real Housewives of New York City season 14 is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime in 2023.
