Brittany Cartwright claims Jax Taylor isn’t making an effort to mend their marriage amid their separation.

While out in Los Angeles on Friday with The Valley co-star Michelle Lally, Brittany, 35, opened up about the current state of her marriage, saying that while there is a chance that she and Jax, 44, will get back together, he’s going to have to make some major life changes before they do.

“It’s Jax so he’s not really trying that much right now,” Brittany told TMZ on March 1, adding that while she’s mentioned the idea of going to marriage counseling, Jax hasn’t agreed.

“I’ve asked him for a while to do certain things and nothing has come from that yet so, you know, hopefully,” she said.

Although Brittany and Jax have been accused of separating in an effort to generate buzz for their new Vanderpump Rules spinoff, The Valley, she denied their split was for press, saying, “Absolutely not.”

“This is definitely for my mental health,” Brittany stated. “I think that’s been one of the hardest parts right now, is people are speculating that I am doing for the showing coming out.”

According to Brittany, she and Jax were fighting a lot in the months leading up to their breakup.

“Whenever you fight with somebody for so long there’s only so much you can take and I deserve better. [Our son] Cruz deserves better,” she noted. “We want a good co-parenting relationship and I think that me moving out and taking space to figure out if this is what I want is the best situation for me right now.”

“I love Jax so much, I really do, and I want the best for me and my son at this point,” she continued. “That’s my main focus but for sure, if he switches some things and changes some things about his life, then maybe we can get back together but right now, I don’t know.”

As for what will be featured on The Valley, Brittany said, “I think gradually people will be able to see throughout the season why we end up where we are right now.”

While Brittany and Jax are living separately, they are continuing to work together.

“We are gonna co-parent. We have businesses together. That’s very important. So [the] podcast is still happening. Our bar is still happening. [The] show is still happening. It’s just a lot going on right now,” she explained.

As she and Jax focus on their two-year-old son, Brittany has made their separation clear. And after he denied they were living separately, she took to her Instagram page, where she removed his last name from her bio.
