Lisa Barlow appeared on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live, where she addressed a number of issues pertaining to her Real Housewives of Salt Lake City castmate, Jen Shah.
After watching as Jen met with Heather Gay and attempted to get in touch with her castmates after being arrested on charges of money laundering and fraud, Lisa, who refused to answer her friend’s phone call, admitted to questioning Jen’s honesty about her situation.
“I was a little surprised by some of the things that Jen said and I’m also surprised by some of the things Heather said,” Lisa admitted on the December 12 episode of WWHL after being asked about the ladies’ lunch date. “I don’t think Heather took accountability for some of the things she said in Vail and I don’t think Jen was taking full accountability for her business relationship either — with Stu.”
As RHOSLC fans may know, Jen’s assistant, Stuart Smith, was also arrested earlier this year. And ultimately, after these episodes were filmed, he changed his plea from not guilty to guilty for his role in the years-long telemarketing scheme that Jen is also accused of being involved with.
While Heather agreed to meet with Jen after her arrest, Lisa did not, choosing to instead take time to herself to process how she was feeling about what was going on. Looking back, Lisa said she doesn’t regret not answering Jen’s call.
“I don’t. I think that was the right thing to do,” she stated. “I like to be honest in my friendships and it would have been dishonest of me to take the phone call and meet with her.”
As for Jen’s feelings regarding the lack of support, Lisa said that while she didn’t initially meet with her co-star, she eventually had a “great conversation” with her.
“I did end up meeting with Jen and we had a great conversation and I have been there with Jen throughout this whole experience,” Lisa insisted.
Lisa then suggested that it was Jen who has distanced herself from their friendship, saying, “It’s up to Jen to return my phone calls. I definitely reach out to Jen.”
Later, on the WWHL: After Show, Lisa was asked if Jen’s legal drama was putting a strain on her marriage to Coach Shah.
“I actually think it’s bringing them closer together. I do,” Lisa revealed.
And, when asked about her current relationship with Jen, Lisa said that although the two of them used to speak to one another “a lot,” they haven’t spoken much recently.
“I used to speak to Jen a lot. Since I was here last, we don’t speak as much. I think I upset her,” Lisa explained. “There was something I said that upset her and I apologized to her but she was really upset. I think I brought up her assistant’s name. So that was upsetting.”
Also during the episode, Lisa denied accusing Jen of guilt.
“I believe in innocence until proven guilty and I feel like, you know, there’s tough allegations against Jen but she’s going to fight through it,” she said.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season two airs Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo.
