LuAnn de Lesseps has released a new song, “Feelin’ Jovani.” During a recent interview with Reality Blurb, the Real Housewives of New York City star opened up about the inspiration behind the track. She also dished on Bethenny Frankel‘s on-camera breakdown in Miami and where they stand today.
When it comes to her new dance song, which features Lisa Rinna and Cynthia Bailey in the music video, LuAnn said she created the song in an effort to “change the narrative” tied to the Jovani drama of season 11 and “make it happy.”
“I had a lot of times where I come on the cabaret stage wearing Jovani dresses and the crowd is like, ‘Jovani, Jovani!’ So, it was really the fans that brought this to the front and center for me,” LuAnn told us. ”The fans really called it.”
In season 11, Luann had a feud with Dorinda Medley, who was upset that LuAnn didn’t invite her boyfriend to one of her cabaret shows after she helped her get several Jovani dresses for the performance. LuAnn has also butted heads with Bethenny, who accused her of being self-absorbed as she maintained her sobriety during their wild trip to Miami.
“[Bethenny] had a real breakdown. It wasn’t easy to watch,” LuAnn recalled. “I think I handled it pretty well. I just did everything I could to contain myself and not lash out because I could see that she was really hurting and it was a bigger issue than just me.”
“I was on a trip where there was a lot of drinking going on and I don’t think the women understood how difficult it was for me to be sober,” she continued of the tension in Miami. “That that may come off as me being self-centered but it’s really about taking care of myself. I think that you know they weren’t sensitive to the fact that that’s what was going on with me and I think that it made me insensitive to how they were feeling.”
As for where Luann stands with Bethenny and her RHONY castmates today, she told us they were able to get some resolution while filming the reunion special weeks ago.
“You’ll see the reunion coming up. We talk about it and I think they got a deeper understanding of where my head was at at that moment,” she shared. “You’ll see that play out in the reunion.”
LuAnn created a stunning music video for new song with her fellow Real Housewives and Andy Cohen. The video turned out to be a Charlie’s Angels moment filled with bling, tons of color, and fabulous material.
“I wanted to have women that are strong in their own right. Lisa Rinna is a really good friend of mine and Lisa knows how to dance and she’s gorgeous and Cynthia Bailey is stunning and knows a thing or two about modeling. I wanted it to be beautiful and these women are beautiful and strong and that’s how it came about,” she shared.
