Andy Cohen Explains Why Real Housewives of Chicago Won’t Happen After Casting Call Following Rumors Tinsley Mortimer Could Launch Show

Andy Cohen Addresses Real Housewives of Chicago Rumors, Find Out If a New Show is Being Launched With RHONY's Tinsley Mortimer

Andy Cohen is finally addressing the rumors that The Real Housewives of Chicago is coming soon.

As The Real Housewives of New York City cast member Tinsley Mortimer prepares to move to the area with her fiancé, Scott KluthDave Quinn, PEOPLE’s resident Real Housewives expert, shared the latest news about the potentially upcoming show in a series of Twitter posts on Wednesday.

According to Dave, Andy Cohen addressed Real Housewives of Chicago rumors on Radio Andy on December 11. He confirmed that the show is not yet in production.

“We just didn’t find the right casting for Chicago. Whatever casting we did, it wasn’t right and we haven’t gone back to do more. That’s the issue,” Andy reportedly explained.

Although Tinsley will soon be moving in with Scott as they prepare to get married, she will not be used to launch the series, mainly because she is not a resident of the city.

“If were were going to start a new franchise, I just think it would be with someone who had deep roots in Chicago. Who had a whole real, big life in Chicago,” Andy continued. “If she’s just moving there…”

In September, rumors began swirling in regard to a Real Housewives series based out of Chicago after a video shot at an open casting call was shared on Instagram. Months prior, while chatting with Jenny McCarthy on his talk show, Watch What Happens Live, Andy confirmed that he and his team had previously attempted to find women for the potential series.

“We cast there once and we just didn’t get it right,” he admitted in December of last year.

While fans may never see a Real Housewives of Chicago, they will soon be treated to a new series based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, which was announced during last month’s BravoCon fan event.

“We are very excited to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah!,” Andy announced to the sold-out crowd. “The Real Housewives of SLC!”

As for Tinsley’s future on RHONY, she recently denied quitting but confirmed she would soon move to the Windy City to be with Scott.
