Vicki Gunvalson released a statement to her fans and followers on Instagram last night after being called out by Lance Bass‘ husband, Michael Turchin, on Twitter for making what he deemed as “blatantly homophobic” statements on The Real Housewives of Orange County.
After Vicki was seen expressing her distaste for drag and slamming Braunwyn Windham-Burke for making the show trashy by talking about her threesomes with husband Sean Burke and her love for making out with other women, Michael responded to a tweet shared by Vicki in which she attempted to defend her comments.
“I simply don’t understand it. It DOES not mean I’m homophobic. One has nothing to do with the other,” Vicki explained after a fan of the show asked her why she thought it was ‘weird’ for men to dress up in drag.
But Michael wasn’t convinced and said her comments were “blatantly homophobic” before slamming her for speaking negatively about Braunwyn’s sexuality.
“No it’s blatantly homophobic. You judged her and spoke of her negatively simply for kissing another woman,” he said. “If you don’t understand then don’t place a negative judgment on it saying you have no respect for her as a person bc of it. You’re clueless.”

After facing claims of homophobia, Vicki took to her Instagram page and shared a statement with her online audience.
“I’ve been seeing some things on social media that people are portraying me as homophobic. I’m going to hit it right-on, head-on. I am not homophobic,” she confirmed. “I’ve got family members that are gay and lesbian. I’ve got, obviously, Bravo fans, personal friends… I’m not.”
Vicki then said that when it comes to her wishes for Braunwyn to “tone down” her sexuality, she stands by them.
“I don’t think it’s appropriate for Braunwyn to be making out on TV. I don’t care if it is with her husband, or Tamra, or anybody. I just think it’s inappropriate,” Vicki explained. “If she wants to do that, do that off-camera. I don’t really think that we all need to see it. Sorry if you all took it any differently than what the truth is. The truth is, the girl bugs me. So, pretty much anything she does would bug me.”

Following Michael’s post, a fan attempted to defend Vicki by suggesting she didn’t want Braunwyn’s racy behavior to become the main focus of the series.
“Nobody is talking about her needing to tone anything down. That’s irrelevant,” Michael fired back. “She specifically told her to tone down her gayness. Period. She specially referenced her sexuality as something that needs to be toned down. Funny how she has no prob making out [with] Brooks repeatedly.”

After seeing Michael’s rant against her, Vicki labeled Lance’s husband “clueless” and said he was “thirsty for attention.”
In response, Michael pointed out that he was simply reacting to the behavior Vicki put on display at the reunion and suggested she apologize for the statements she made.
“Thirsty for attention? Pretty sure that would be you darling with your antics at that reunion,” he fired back. “I just simply tweeted what I saw and your buddy went after me just as he did in the past with your other cast mates. Maybe have some accountability in your life and just say sorry.
