Kristen Doute wasn’t thrilled to learn she’d been left out of a recent girls trip to Park City, Utah.
As Lala Kent, Stassi Schroeder, Katie Maloney, and Brittany Cartwright enjoyed their winter getaway this week, the Vanderpump Rules star opened up about the snub during a new interview while also discussing her wine line with Stassi and Katie, and her current relationship with on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Carter.
“That sucked,” Kristen admitted during an appearance on Pop of the Morning on January 15. “Katie’s birthday is tomorrow. So, that’s why I’m guessing that they are there. But you know… it sucks. It’s really sad.”
As fans of Pump Rules well know, Kristen suffered a falling out with Stassi and Katie during production on season eight and has been taking a seemingly involuntary “break” from the two of them ever since. However, when it comes to the two friendships, Kristen believes they should be addressed separately with a “transparent conversation” that allows them to work on things with one another.
“I love them both so much… and nothing really happened to have this giant fall out. I think it was just a lot of stress, maybe the toxicity of my relationship with Carter was a lot on them,” Kristen suspected.
Throughout the first two episodes of season eight, Kristen’s status with Carter was a hot topic for her co-stars, many of whom assumed they were secretly dating, despite Kristen’s claims of a split.
“Katie and Stassi, we’re still #itscomplicated,” Kristen continued. “We still have wine to sell. Katie and I are still on board. [Stassi] is not trying quite as hard. She’s kind of taken a backseat to that.”
According to Kristen, she hopes that she will be able to work better with Katie and Stassi, and continue to promote their Witches of WeHo line, after Stassi marries Beau Clark later this year.
“I think maybe after she gets married and off her high horse she’ll be a little more involved, hopefully in a friendship perhaps. We’ll see,” she noted.
As for her current relationship with Carter, Kristen said she is single but remaining friends with her ex-boyfriend.
“We’re still friends. We have dogs together,” she shared. “But as of the last few months, we’ve definitely taken a lot more space. We’re not hanging out and grabbing lunch all the time and things like that. I still love him and I care about him and he’s an amazing person. We just don’t work.”
“I’ve accepted that and moved on,” she added.
