Despite her departure from The Real Housewives of New York City, drama still swirls around Bethenny Frankel as a new report claims Andy Cohen is livid over Bethenny’s recent comments bashing the show.
After the premiere of RHONY, Bethenny dished on the show’s supposed poor ratings, citing it as “maybe [not] the content that is inspiring people to do what they need to do right now.”
Now, top producers and members of the cast are once again sharing their contempt for Bethenny’s comments, punching back with digs of their own.
“We all can’t believe she’s out there bashing the show when the ratings are good and she’s proclaimed to have moved on when she decided to leave the franchise,” a source close to the cast revealed to Page Six. “I know the ladies only wish her more success with her new show than she had with the last one!”
Bethenny’s last solo show, Bethenny, premiered in 2013 and was cancelled after one season. After leaving the franchise last August, she’s currently preparing for her newest show, The Big Shot With Bethenny, forthcoming on HBO Max.
“As much as Bethenny pretends to be a producer, creator, mogul and even philanthropist, she will always be a ‘Real Housewife’ and reality star,” said a production source. “She was a no-one before RHONY — why would someone be so desperate as to bash the franchise that built her brand? Andy is livid!”
Bethenny may be taking jabs at RHONY due to how the cast has talked about her recently in the press. Luann de Lesseps called Bethenny “annoying” in a March interview, and Ramona Singer recently said having Bethenny around on the show was like walking “on eggshells.” Even Tinsley Mortimer noted how the women were able to bond and connect more without Bethenny around.
Although she had a few choice words about the franchise, Bethenny’s main focus these days has been helping those in crisis, with her B Strong initiative working to aid those in need during the coronavirus pandemic.
While a rep for Bravo did not respond for comment to Page Six, Bethenny’s rep said, “She wishes everyone at Bravo well.”
