Teddi Mellencamp welcomed Jillian Michaels to her podcast on Friday after news of a potential feud between them hit the web.
Days after Jillian told the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member to “stay in her lane” after learning about her accountability business on a podcast, Teddi spoke to the Biggest Loser trainer about the supposed drama between them before answering questions about her All In program.
“After I read the sixth press article, I’m like, ‘I need to go listen to what she actually,’ and you didn’t say anything bad,” Teddi told Jillian on the December 4 episode of Teddi Tea Pod.
“I was like, ‘I don’t know anything about the program,’” Jillian replied.
According to Jillian, she was told by the hosts of the #ADULTING podcast that Teddi had no certifications and no credentials.
“I was extremely clear that I knew nothing about the program and had nothing to bash. I was just told, by these two kids, that you were catching a rash of sh*t and that’s when I was like, ‘Well, okay, does she have the ability to back this up?’” Jillian recalled.
“You and I have the same certification,” Teddi replied. “People don’t do their research. They just want clickbait and they want people to feel on edge with other people.”
“Are you catching a rash of sh*t for it?” Jillian asked.
At that point, the former RHOBH castmate, who announced her exit from the series in September, gave Jillian a run-down of what she went through online just months ago.
“A couple of months ago, there’s a website and it’s called Deux Moi. They put gossip about different people and they had posted something from one of my former clients, that was a client in 2016, that sent these messages about me,” Teddi explained.
While Teddi was accused of promoting unhealthy diets and dangerous exercise plans, she told Jillian that the disgruntled former client was once a super-fan.
“She also sent me over 200 DMs like, ‘You are the most beautiful girl in the world,’ ‘I love you,’ ‘You’re so funny.’ It was one of those unhealthy situations from the beginning,” she shared, adding that she was also bashed by an influencer who hadn’t taken the time to gain “proper proof” about what she was claiming.
After hearing more about the backlash Teddi received, Jillian admitted that she didn’t understand why people were coming for her as Teddi confirmed her website clearly explains what her business is about.
“On our website, it says, ‘Not everybody is a certified coach.’ All the information is completely laid out there. But every single one of my coaches went through the program and changed their life through it,” Teddi noted.
At that point, Jillian had some questions from the ex-reality star.
“Are the people that co-created the program with you, do they have the necessary credentials to certify your coaches?” she wondered.
“I created it myself and I have the certifications,” Teddi responded. “When I first started my business, I didn’t have the certifications. I just did it off lift experience [but] as I started doing it, I realized, ‘These are things I want to learn.’ I had nutritionists look at the program to make sure it’s right.”
“So it’s your program, your diet, your workout, you have the certifications and they’re just coaching people through the steps?” Jillian asked further.
“Yes, which is the same as Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers,” Teddi replied.
