Erika Jayne‘s estranged husband, Thomas Girardi, offered an official response to her November 2 divorce filing at the end of last month.
In court documents obtained from the Los Angeles Superior Court, Thomas, 81, made a number of requests of the court, including a request to block the judge’s ability to award his Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star wife, 49, with spousal support.
On December 8, Us Weekly obtained the court documents, which Thomas filed on November 25, and revealed that after Erika requested spousal support from Thomas, and asked the judge to block him from requesting spousal support from her, Thomas made a move to stop Erika from gaining support amid their split. He also requested that she pay his attorney fees.
Following her divorce filing, Erika offered a statement to press.
It read, “After much consideration, I have decided to end my marriage to Tom Girardi. This is not a step taken lightly or easily. I have great love and respect for Tom and for our years and the lives we built together. It is my absolute wish to proceed through this process with respect and with the privacy that both Tom and I deserve. I request others give us that privacy as well.”
Erika and Thomas tied the knot in January 1999 with no prenuptial agreement, and in the years since, they’ve reportedly “had an unconventional marriage” and spent “a lot of time apart.”
In addition to being faced with cheating rumors in the weeks since their split, Erika and Thomas have also been dealt with a lawsuit.
As RHOBH fans may have heard, Edelson PC sued the couple earlier this month for fraud and embezzlement.
At the time, the class action firm claimed Erika and Thomas “are on the verge of financial collapse and locked in a downward spiral of mounting debts and dwindling funds” and suggested their separation was “a sham attempt to fraudulently protect” their assets.
Erika was previously married to Thomas Zizzo, the father of her only child, police officer Tommy Zizzo.
