Robyn Dixon is defending her relationship with Gizelle Bryant.
As Robyn continues to be accused of being a follower of her Real Housewives of Potomac co-star, rather than an actual friend, she spoke out in defense of their friendship, claiming they are “very, very good friends” and insisting that if Gizelle were to do something she didn’t agree with, she’d call her out on it.
“It’s so funny when people criticize when I stick up for Gizelle or vice versa. I’m so curious. I’m like, ‘What kind of friendships do y’all have?’ Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do for your friends?” Robyn asked during an interview with The Jasmine Brand on August 25.
According to Robyn, she believes that those who are critical of her relationship with Gizelle, which has included their RHOP castmates, likely have a skewed view of what a friendship actually is.
“If your friends don’t ride hard for you, then you need new friends,” Robyn continued. “I just… It’s so weird to me. We’re literally very, very good friends, and when you have a friend that you’re that close with and you feel like maybe people are… I don’t know, I’ve just, I’ve never felt like I should not defend my friend and vice versa. If she does something I don’t agree with, I’ll tell her.”
Robyn, who has been criticized for her unwavering loyalty to Gizelle, went on to say that the speculation surrounding their friendship is “just so weird.”
“People need to find some better friends if they have a problem with our friendship and how I defend her or stick up for her or whatever. It’s very strange,” she added.
Earlier this month, during an appearance on the Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef podcast, Gizelle reacted to claims of Robyn being an extension of her, rather than her own person, on RHOP.
“First of all, I’ve never heard that,” she said. “She’s holding her champagne glass very proudly for six seasons on her own having nothing to do with me. You know, Robyn holds me accountable all day, every day. Whether they air it or not is on Bravo. But she has [held me accountable] on camera plenty of times.”
The Real Housewives of Potomac season six airs Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo.
