Tom Schwartz was working on not one but two babies while quarantining in Los Angeles earlier this year.
In a sneak peek at the premiere episode of Vanderpump Rules season nine, Schwartz and Tom Sandoval are seen meeting with their co-stars and business partners, Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd, at TomTom, where Schwartz confirms his efforts to start a family with Katie Maloney and reveals he’s opening a new bar with Sandoval.
“What a breath of fresh air to come in here and see you guys’ faces,” Schwartz tells Lisa, Ken, and Richardson Chery in the Bravo Insider clip.
“During quarantine, Katie and I decided to really put a concerted effort into trying to make a baby. There was a two-month window in which we were really working on it,” he explains, confirming they were “having sex when the clock told us to.”
As the scene at TomTom continues, Sandoval brings up the other baby Schwartz was working on: their new venue in West Hollywood.
“I don’t know if I want to say anything right now, just because we have so much sh-t to do but Lisa, I think she knows that we’re opening a new spot,” he tells Schwartz.
“As amazing as it is to see Ken and Lisa, I’m also slightly nervous, because I don’t know if they know we’re opening a new place or not,” Sandoval continues in a confessional.
Once Sandoval and Schwartz ultimately share the news of their new bar with Lisa and Ken, after Ken reminds them that they are going to be quite busy at TomTom, the Toms are met with support. In fact, Lisa quickly wants to know details about the new spot, including the name.
“We have settled on a name and it’s ‘Schwartz and Sandy’s,’” Sandoval proclaims.
Meanwhile, in another scene, Katie tells Ariana Madix that Schwartz “hates” the name as Ariana reveals they are “on opposite sides.”
Also in the first seven minutes of Pump Rules, Raquel Leviss informs Lisa that while James Kennedy has been steering clear of alcohol and is preparing to celebrate two years of sobriety in two months, he still smokes weed every single day.
Raquel then tells the cameras that James is “California sober,” much like Demi Lovato, who Lala Kent called out in July on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast, saying that her mentality toward sobriety was “super offensive.”
“There are people out there who work their *ss off to never take themselves out of reality and to never place themselves in an altered state,” she explained.
Lala even said that “California sober” is “not a real thing.”
“If you’re drinking or smoking weed, you’re not sober,” she added.
Vanderpump Rules season nine premieres Tuesday, September 28, at 9/8c on Bravo.
