On Sunday night, the Real Housewives of Orange County alum and her ex-Fox News correspondent partner hosted a Halloween bash, where he was seen dressed up as Alec Baldwin‘s character in Rust, just days after a cinematographer tragically lost her life on-set.
“Kelly celebrated her Native American heritage [and] I celebrated the great American film actor Alec Baldwin,” Rick revealed in the caption of a photo shared on his Instagram page on October 31.
Kelly also shared footage from the bash on her own page.
Last month, in the midst of production on Rust, Alec fired off a prop gun, accidentally killing the married mother of one and injuring another. So, when Rick was suddenly dressed up as his character, Instagram was understandably put off by the concept.
“Uhm… a little too soon Rick,” one person said.
Meanwhile, a couple of others suggested he and the RHOC alum were being “tacky” to remain “relevant” and said Rick’s costume was disappointing and “disrespectful.”
“It was not his fault and a family lost their mother and wife,” one noted.
Others suggested Rick was “thirsty AF” and even “sick” for dressing in the Rust ensemble.
“Sorry but bad taste. Come on someone lost their life,” an Instagram user noted.
“I’m sure you wouldn’t be dressing up like that if it were your daughter that had been shot.. Grow up and stop letting Kelly turn you into her puppet. 100 % sure that costume was her idea,” another added.
Meanwhile, on Kelly’s page, she responded to people calling her out for potentially disrespecting Native Americans by wearing a headdress.
“Are you a Native American? How unoriginal and tone deaf. And unsurprising,” one critic noted.
But, as Kelly pointed out, she actually is part Native American.
“Shut up,” she replied. “You’re not Native!! I am… sit down you liberal.”
“I did a 23andMe and I don’t identify myself as a Black person, that was not my point. My point was I’m Black, Asian, Mexican [and] Spanish. I’m 30% Native American and I’m one percent Jewish and I’m all races,” she explained to E! News at the time.
Kelly appeared on The Real Housewives of Orange County from season 11 through season 15.
