Jennie Nguyen may have shared despicable posts against the Black community amid the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020 but she’s reportedly still part of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast.
Amid calls for her firing, an insider has revealed that Jennie’s future on the show has not yet been decided. And, when it comes to her current status, she’s allegedly still in production on the upcoming third season with her castmates who are said to be “outraged” by her behavior.
“It’s raw, but warranted,” the source told Entertainment Tonight on January 21, adding that they plan to “hit [Jennie] hard” on camera and “won’t tolerate racism.”
While the ladies of RHOSLC have shared statements against racism in the days since Jennie’s scandal broke, the insider said they’ve been cautious (aside from Jen Shah) about their wordings in posts because their contracts prohibit them from spoiling any storylines that will be addressed on future episodes of the show.
“It’s still very early on. Who knows what’s going to happen with Jennie? She may not stick around for the whole season,” the source continued.
Although Page Six reported on January 21 that Whitney Rose was still following Jennie as of Friday afternoon, she unfollowed her sometime between then and now, and the rest of the cast has unfollowed her as well.
Following the resurfacing of Jennie’s Facebook posts, the RHOSLC newbie offered an apology on her Instagram page.
“I want to acknowledge and apologize for my deleted Facebook posts from 2020 that resurfaced today. At the time, I thought I was speaking out against violence, but I have since learned how offensive and hurtful my words were. It’s why I deactivated that account more than a year ago and why I continue to try to learn about perspectives different from my own. I regret those posts and am sincerely sorry for the pain they have caused,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, Bravo and Andy Cohen remained silent, which was upsetting for many fans.
“[Bravo and Andy Cohen], the silence is NOT ok. This should have been addressed by now,” one person wrote as they thanked Lisa Barlow for speaking out about her disappointment in Jennie’s “harmful and hurtful” messages.
And, in response to the post, Lisa revealed that the issue will be addressed on Sunday.
“We addressed Wednesday. You will [see] Sunday,” she confirmed.
What Lisa didn’t say is where the topic would be addressed.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season two airs Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo.
