Teresa Giudice confirmed on Tuesday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live that she would not be including her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga as a bridesmaid in her upcoming wedding. And during Thursday’s episode of her podcast, Melissa addressed the snub.
After Teresa revealed she will have eight bridesmaids standing alongside her as she ties the knot with Luis Ruelas this summer in New Jersey, her Real Housewives of New Jersey co-star, who is married to Teresa’s brother, Joe Gorga, admitted she learned the news while watching Andy Cohen‘s late-night talk show.
“I did find out on TV that I’m not going to be in Teresa’s wedding and I’m not a bridesmaid, which I’m OK with. I’m fine with [it],” Melissa said on the March 17 episode of Melissa Gorga on Display, via Us Weekly. “I understand. To each their own.”
Although Melissa had “no idea” that she wouldn’t make the cut until she saw the show, she admitted she “pretty much assumed” she wouldn’t be included in Teresa’s big day. That said, she is curious to see if Teresa will welcome Luis’ sisters, her future sister-in-laws, will be one of the eight.
“Is it, like, a no-fam wedding other than the four daughters, her four beautiful daughters, and like a couple of her friends? I think if that’s the case then that makes perfect sense,” Melissa noted. “I mean if she’s having Louie’s sisters then I guess that makes perfect sense for Teresa.”
Teresa and Luis began dating in late 2020 and got engaged one year later during a trip to Greece. Teresa was previously married to Joe Giudice, the father of her four daughters, Gia, 21, Gabriella, 18, Milania, 16, and Audriana, 13.
As Teresa prepares to say, “I do,” Melissa said she wishes her “nothing but happiness.”
“I’m very happy that she’s happy. I love to see her smile when she’s with Louie so whatever she decides. It’s her wedding and I will be fine with it,” Melissa continued, then joking that Teresa would “probably put [her] in an ugly dress.”
While Teresa and Melissa have gone through ups and downs in the years since Melissa and Joe joined RHONJ for season three, Melissa said she’s been there for Teresa “through thick and thin.”
“We’ve always backed her up and we haven’t said much on the show in a negative light regarding her and Louie and it’s for a reason,” Melissa shared. “It’s because we want her to be happy and we want it to be good. So I hope she sees that and realizes that, and I wish her nothing but happiness and I’m sure her wedding will be absolutely beautiful.”
Back in October 2021, Melissa admitted she didn’t think she’d be selected as a bridesmaid during an interview with Us Weekly.
“I didn’t go to the first one so at least I never attended one of her weddings before. This [will] be my first,” Melissa said, noting that she thought Teresa’s daughters would serve as her bridesmaids.
