Tom Schwartz may have split from Katie Maloney back in February, but that doesn’t mean the Vanderpump Rules cast member is ready to get back into the dating pool. In fact, Tom is downright “horrified” by the idea.
While attending the grand opening of Lisa Vanderpump‘s new restaurant in Las Vegas, Vanderpump à Paris, Tom offered an update on his split from Katie, admitting that he’s “f-cking bummed” but “doing pretty well” while also saying that when it comes to moving on, he’s nowhere near ready but “wholeheartedly” supportive of Katie’s romantic endeavors.
“We still live together, so it’s not that awkward,” he revealed to E! News of his “beautiful” estranged wife on April 21. “Even though we’re divorced, I still have a deep love and admiration for her… I love her… She’s thriving. She’s on fire professionally.”
When the outlet then questioned Tom about dating, he was quick to say, “Oh hell motherf-ckinging no.”
“Oh my god, I am horrified at the prospect of dating,” he shared. “I truly love human beings but, on an intimate level, the thought of dating another human being is horrifying… I’m gonna be single for a long time, but not too sad of a way.”
Following the initial announcement regarding his and Katie’s breakup, which came via Instagram in mid-March, Tom made headlines for failing to remove his wedding ring. Now, several weeks later, Tom has revealed why he finally stopped wearing his ring.
“I’ve been wearing it for the past few months, but I just woke up one day and I was like, ‘Maybe it’s time to stop wearing it out of respect for Katie,’” Tom told Page Six. “There was no specific catalyst, though.”
“I don’t want to seem like I’m clinging onto something, but the reason I kept wearing it is because A) it’s a beautiful ring and B) I still have a great love and admiration for Katie. I love her with all my heart,” he continued.
Tom went on to say that when it comes to his feelings for Katie, not much has changed since their split.
“I am still madly in love with my wife, Katie. I’ll always love her. I wore the ring for a long time because I feel naked without it and I feel so vulnerable without the ring,” he said.
And while the breakup hasn’t been easy, Tom applauded Katie for being “so accommodating.”
“Katie’s been so f-cking great. I hate the word accommodating. It sounds so sterile, but she’s been amazing,” he said. “We’ve been respectful of each other’s boundaries. But she’s my girl. Even though we’re separated, I would do anything for her.”
In her own interview with Page Six, Katie echoed similar sentiments, saying that she and Tom will “always have each other’s backs.”
“I’m glad that we have had time to take our time, do it together, untangle together and not have it be this abrupt, cold turkey situation,” she said, adding that it’s been a “relief” to be able to adjust to their new lives as singles without cameras rolling on Pump Rules.
“We needed this time to figure it out and take those next steps. It’s one step at a time,” she explained. “He had to get there on his own time with the ring and everything, which I completely understood.”
Although Tom is “f-cking terrified” of dating, he said he wants to see Katie “get out there” and “find love.”
“But yeah, I’m not going to be dating for a long time,” he confirmed. “I’m going to be a hermit. I’m going to grow a beard. I might go ahead and become a cobbler. I don’t know, I have no idea what’s going to happen with my love life.”
Vanderpump Rules has not yet been confirmed for a 10th season.
