Erika Jayne has suggested in new court documents that the $750,000 earrings she recently turned over amid estranged husband Thomas Girardi‘s bankruptcy and a $25 million lawsuit filed against her were actually part of a past insurance claim.
In addition to claiming she owes $2.2 million to the State of California for the 2019 tax year, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has shared that the pricey jewelry was a “gift replacement” as a previous tax debt of $2.5 million and a past audit of her company, EJ Global, were made public.
“Erika Girardi earrings opp: [Erika Jayne] comes out swinging with actual testimony opposing the motion,” attorney Ronald Richards announced on Twitter on June 15. “She claims she owes $2.2m for 2019 to CA in taxes plus the earrings were a gift replacement from an insurance claim from a prior burglary.”
In a second tweet, the attorney went on to say that Erika owed $2.5 million for the years 2011, 2012, and 2013, but she argued against the number and didn’t include the debt in her recently filed opposition documents.
“Erika Girardi has a long history with the Franchise Tax Board of not paying her taxes,” he revealed. “She owes $2,519,882.40 for years 2011 – 2013 which she personally protested for EJ Global which is still suspended. She was represented by counsel. Her opp omits any proof of tax owed for 2019.”
In a third message to his followers, Ronald revealed that the RHOBH cast member claimed in her new documents that she did not receive a bill from the Franchise Tax Board of California until last month, and he noted that if she were to update her company’s status from suspended to active, she will owe even more.
“Here is [Erika Jayne]’s midnight declaration isolated. She says she just received the FTB tax bill in May 2022. Of course, if EJ updates EJ Global and files returns, this will grow,” he explained. “EJ omits from her declaration she already personally participated in a tax audit for prior yrs.”
In the year-and-a-half since Erika and Thomas were accused of stealing settlement money from many of his clients and using their funds to sustain their luxurious lifestyle, numerous additional lawsuits have been filed as Erika insists she’s innocent and Thomas, who was diagnosed with dementia in 2021, continues to live in an assisted facility for seniors.
