Kenya Moore reacted to Drew Sidora‘s divorce from husband Ralph Pittman Jr. during an appearance on Tuesday.
Ahead of the upcoming 15th season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kenya explained why their split caught her off-guard as she compared Ralph to her own ex, Marc Daly, shaded the returning OGs, including Kim Zolciak, Lisa Wu, and DeShawn Snow, and revealed which co-star read her best.
“The trailer was really good,” Kenya shared of the new season during an April 25 interview on E! News. “I think you get a really good idea of what’s to come from the trailer, lots of drama, tears, man drama, everyone is into everyone else’s business, you know, Housewives … It’s a great season.”
In addition to the return of Cynthia Bailey, who Kenya described as “one of [her] best friends” and a “sister,” saying it’s always great to have her nearby, a number of OGs are also back in cameo roles, which Kenya doesn’t seem thrilled about.
“They pop in. I don’t know how long they stay but they pop in. I don’t know how welcome they are … but they find a home for a few minutes,” Kenya stated.
When Kenya was then asked about the new man in her life, she clarified, “I don’t know if he’s a new man in my life but I’m dating.”
As RHOA fans saw in the trailer, Marlo Hampton suggested that the man Kenya is referring to was someone she’d dated in the past. But according to Kenya, that may not be true.
“We don’t talk about Marlo,” she said. “Some people would love to have the man that they’re talking about and some have the man that others are talking. So we’ll have to wait and see.”
Although Kenya has been known for her one-liners throughout her time on the RHOA cast, she didn’t hesitate to applaud Sheree Whitfield for her own past read.
“I think one of the funniest times for me, Sheree and I were arguing about our houses and I didn’t have baseboards or something or whatever and she was like, ‘Twirl on those baseboards,'” Kenya recalled. “And I just thought it was just so funny. I was like, ‘Okay, girl, you got me.'”
Moving on to Drew and Ralph’s breakup, Kenya said Drew is “going to be okay.”
“She’s got me. She’s got her girls. She’s got a family that really cares about her so she’s gonna be okay and I’m gonna make sure of it. I’m gonna make her okay,” Kenya confirmed, noting that Ralph reminds her of Marc.
“We have a similar situation,” Kenya explained. “We both have been married to a similar personality. There’s that bond and I felt just really protective of her when I would see her in a situation where I didn’t feel like she was being heard or seen. It just kind of like infuriated me and I just had to jump in there. But she’s capable, she’s smart, she’s beautiful, she’s got an amazing career, and trust me, she’s got beautiful kids, she’s gonna be okay.”
While Drew and Ralph’s past marital hardships were no secret, Kenya admitted that learning of their divorce came as a shock.
“I was actually really surprised because they had seemed like they were doing better, you know, they were in counseling, they were more affectionate when we would see them, they would show up for each other, it just was different so I was really rooting for them,” Kenya shared. “Then I was just kinda heartbroken when I saw that they had filed.”
Also during the episode, Kenya said her recent appearance on Family Feud was “very interesting” with some “very controversial” moments. She also shared how her daughter, four-year-old Brooklyn Doris Daly, handles fame.
“I think Brooklyn thinks she’s the housewife at this point,” Kenya laughed. “She knows that people know who we are but she’s always like, ‘Well, how do they know me?’ And sometimes she’s like, ‘I’m feeling a little bit shy.’ It just depends.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 15 premieres on Sunday, May 7, at 8/7c on Bravo.
