VVanderpump Rules' Scheana Shay Explains Why She Was "Jealous" of Dayna During Season 8 as Dayna Reveals Job After Quitting Show

Scheana Shay welcomed Dayna Kathan to the latest episode of her podcast, where she opened up about why she had such a problem with her during their time together on Vanderpump Rules season eight.

After being accused of jealousy over Dayna’s past romance with Max Boyens, who she also dated, Scheana set the record straight as Dayna, who quit the Bravo reality show after just one season, explained what she’s been doing in the years since.

“I did not come to LA being like ‘I wanna be on a reality TV show’ that was not it,” Dayna revealed on the July 14 episode of Scheananigans, via The U.S. Sun. “It truly found me and so I ended up going with it, though cause I was doing stand-up comedy at the time, and I had been doing this really serious healthcare sales career my whole adult life.”

Although Dayna lost her healthcare gig when she signed on to appear on Pump Rules in 2019, she felt that positive things would come out of the decision. However, after the pandemic hit in 2020, she began to second-guess her decisions.

After quitting her anti-depressants, which she admitted was not a good decision, Dayna pondered her future.

“You just ruined your entire life and everything you’ve worked for to be on a reality show for a year that mentally kicked your a– and what else do you have to live for?” she asked herself.

Then, after turning down her chance to return to Pump Rules for season nine, Dayna made moves to get back into healthcare.

“I truly love who I am and I’m very happy with where I’m at and it couldn’t have happened if I didn’t go through that really ugly learning experience but I regret nothing,” Dayna said, confirming she’s still working in healthcare today.

On the same Scheananigans episode, via Instagram,  Scheana opened up about why she had an issue with Dayna during their time together on the show.

“Season eight, for me, was one of the most challenging seasons because I felt like, here I am, the only person pretty much still working at this restaurant, I’m bridging all these new people with the original people while still not getting to show anything in my career outside of this show,” Scheana explained.

According to Scheana, she and Dayna had a “disconnect” because she was jealous of the attention the newbie’s outside-of-the-show endeavors were getting as hers were ignored.

“I was jealous that you came on the show your first season and boom, everyone’s going to Dayna’s stand up comedy shows and everybody’s supporting Dayna’s comedy show, and I’m like, ‘What about my podcast? What about my show in Vegas? What about anything that I’ve done?'” she recalled.

Acknowledging that it was “unfair” for her not to give Dayna a “fair chance,” Scheana said she immediately didn’t like her due to the advantage she was given by producers. Still, not everyone felt that was the case.

“Right off the bat, I had something against you and that was not your fault whatsoever and then it came across like ‘Oh you’re jealous because she’s dating your ex,'” Scheana explained, denying any such thing. “I’m like, ‘First of all, it was a guy I banged for like a month, not my ex.'”

Vanderpump Rules season 11 is currently in production and expected to begin airing on Bravo later this year or early next year.
