Gina Kirschenheiter‘s estranged husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, has officially been charged for the June 22 encounter he allegedly had with the Real Housewives of Orange County star.
Over two months after Gina claimed Matt got physical with her during an argument at her home following a night out, Matt was dealt with two felony charges from the Orange County District Attorney.
On September 4, TMZ revealed that while Matt wasn’t initially charged with any crime following the June 22 incident, he was charged with both domestic violence and false imprisonment during a court hearing on Wednesday. He was also accused of “[inflicting] corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition” upon Gina.
Although the District Attorney didn’t give any details about the false imprisonment charge against Matt, the outlet said it likely meant that Matt had prevented Gina from either leaving a room in their home, or from leaving the home itself.
According to the report, Gina filed for a restraining order against Matt shortly after they allegedly came to blows, with Matt supposedly choking and hitting her.
As fans of RHOC will recall, Gina and Matt appeared to be on extremely good terms with one another in the months leading up to their dispute and had even sparked rumors of rekindling their marriage.
Gina filed for divorce in April 2018 and their divorce will be made official on January 1, 2020.
During a recent court hearing, Matt was ordered to make monthly child and spousal support payments to Gina in the amount of $10,000, which he claims he can’t afford after losing his job. He is now asking her to pay him child support as he claims the publicity stemming from his arrest has prevented him from being able to get a new job.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 14 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo TV.
