Teddi Mellencamp first learned she had been fired from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on the internet.
During the latest episode of her podcast, Teddi opened up about the moments leading up to her axing before explaining how Kyle Richards reacted to the loss of her role, revealing if she’s spoken to Andy Cohen in the weeks since, and sharing her thoughts on a “friend” role on season 11.
“My girlfriends started texting me [on the Monday before my firing] and they’re like, ‘Hey is everything cool? It’s all over the Daily Mail that you’re no longer a housewife,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, come on!’” Teddi recalled on the October 1 episode of Teddi Tea Pod. “Maybe [less than] three hours later I get the phone call. They’re like, ‘Your contract’s not getting renewed as a housewife.’”
Right away, Teddi couldn’t believe that no one gave her a heads up.
“I’m like, ‘You’re telling me that it’s released to the Daily Mail before me?’ It’s like, ‘How did this happen? How did I have no idea?’ Of course my heart broke because I was like, ‘How was I blindsided?’” Teddi admitted.
According to Teddi, she reached out to Kyle immediately after seeing the report, which suggested she had been axed for being “boring and stale,” but she was assured by her friend that it couldn’t be true.
“I was like, ‘Uh oh,’ and she was like, ‘No!’” Teddi shared.
Then, after learning the rumor was true, Kyle told Teddi, “I can’t imagine doing this without you. We love you.”
Although Teddi was caught off-guard by her firing initially, she said that in retrospect, she kind of saw it coming.
“I filmed so many amazing things that were never shown on the show, it should have been the writing on the wall,” Teddi explained. “All of the things that made me a likable, redeeming human being weren’t shown. I’m not blaming production or Bravo but I was there to do a certain part and that part I did. But if you don’t see the other part, it’s hard to relate to the person.”
Following her firing, Teddi touched base with Andy and noted on her show that she appreciated the comments he made on his radio show last week.
“I did hear from Andy,” she shared. “He said [on his channel] that my post was the most authentic departure post he’d ever seen because I was straight-forward. Every housewife prior said, ‘It was a mutual decision to not go back.’ I’m not going to say that because it’s not true.”
As for her potential return, Teddi said that she is open to making a comeback on the RHOBH if the situation is right.
“If it came down to a situation where it was to support one of my friends at an event that I wanted to be there for… If it made sense, I’ll never say never but I wouldn’t want to be in a situation just to grow drama,” she stated. “Time will tell and I think it’s crazy to put too much expectation on yourself or on other people. This is out of our control completely.”
Filming on season 11 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is expected to begin later this month.
