Kathy Hilton is looking back on her years-long feud with sister Kyle Richards.
After admitting that she once refused to watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills due to the turmoil between herself and Kyle, Kathy admitted that their feud wasn’t prompted by just one issue and revealed the advice Kim Richards gave her after she took on a “friend” role for season 11.
“I never would have thought I’d say yes to this,” Kathy told PEOPLE for the latest issue of their magazine. “I stopped watching it after the first season. My sister Kyle and I had our ups and downs so it was nothing that I wanted to watch. But Kyle convinced me to do it. And I was flattered. I thought it would be an opportunity for us to spend time together. I really missed her.”
Although Kathy didn’t give a specific reason for her feud with Kyle, she noted that things had “piled up and piled up” between them before confirming that “what fans think” caused their falling out is “so wrong.”
“Family is family. It takes time, but it feels so good to be where we are now. And I’ve really appreciated this time,” she continued.
While Kathy once wanted nothing to do with RHOBH because of her family drama, she now believes that fans will actually benefit from seeing her and Kyle post-reconciliation.
“I think that by sharing these things I’ve experienced, it can help other people,” she said. “Let’s have fun with the show and be silly and girly but let’s also have more depth. Maybe someone will [see us] and pick up the phone to call their sister or their mother or their brother.”
As for the advice given to her by Kim, who left the show in 2017, Kathy revealed her younger sister told her, “Go for it, you’ll be great. Just don’t lose your temper!”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 11 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
