Ramona Singer has allegedly been fired from The Real Housewives of New York City after appearing on the show in a full-time position for its past 13 seasons.
On the heels of a concerning ratings drop and racial tensions between Ramona and the series’ first Black cast member, Eboni K. Williams, an insider claims Ramona is “furious” at Bravo’s alleged decision to move on to season 14 without her.
“The only original New York cast member who has never left from day one is Ramona Singer but now her time is up,” sources revealed to Radar Online on July 12. “Ramona will not be invited back to the next season of the show, which is currently not in production for a couple of reasons.”
According to the report, Ramona won’t be included in RHONY season 14 because her salary is too high and because she simply doesn’t fit in with the message Bravo wants to send to its viewers.
“One, she is too expensive. She is the only lady that has been on the show from day one, ([Luann de Lesseps] was demoted to ‘a friend’ before returning as a full-time cast member) and her salary reflects it. Plus, the basic premise of the show doesn’t work anymore,” the source noted. “A bunch of older white women behaving badly was fun a decade ago but not today. The world has changed and if the show wants to survive another decade it must change too and that starts with the cast.”
Another insider went on to reveal that Ramona was not only upset but confused about her alleged axing.
“Ramona is furious that the show is changing. She doesn’t understand why her behavior isn’t great TV anymore. After over a decade of being rewarded for saying and doing the things she has done, she does not understand what the problem is,” the source stated.
Following the latest episode of RHONY, Ramona received backlash online after telling Eboni she doesn’t understand how she can talk about “suffering.”
“You’re living a great life, I don’t understand,” Ramona said. “I want to live your life … I want your life, b-tch. It’s real good.”
“You said you’ve suffered. I said, ‘Looking at you, I don’t think you suffer,” she added.
The Real Housewives of New York City season 13 airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
